Question about Xerox XG-91D 19" LCD Monitor

2 Answers

Won't power on. Screen is black.

Monitor will be 2 years old 11/15/07. Yesterday it went black while I was away from the computer, when I returned and tried to revive it with mouse movement, nothing. At this point I should say this problem has been coming on for a couple of weeks. Up to now I've always been able to bring the thing back to life by judicious use of the on/off button. This time even that has failed. I've also tried all of the suggestions listed here. Nothing has given even a glimmer of life so far. (not even the tech at Circuit City) He said "Call Xerox".

My monitor is just under 2 years old now and developed a problem when the PC was turned on as if it had trouble locking onto the signal and displayed a flashing white screen until it finally showed my windows log in page. The problem got worse with the power light flashing in sync with the white screen until one day while i was away from my PC (was left with media player active so the monitor could not go into standby) it went totally blank, after a few attempts to turn it on and off again it failed to show any activity. :-(

I also had this problem with my (2 years old) Xerox monitor, and found the 3 year warrantee card - I contacted Goodies who after receiving copies of my paperwork sent me a new monitor. Excellent service, and no, I was not asked for a penny...

I have added a sort of solution on this site. The monitor has a 3 years manufacturers warrantee on it. Goodies Enterprise Ltd of Bedford will fix it for 56GBP including shipping. They've just fixed mine and its cheaper than buying a new one. 3 months guarantee on repair.

Any idea what's wrong with my laptop? The screen went black and wont turn on anymore. Was using it yesterday when it suddenly went black. Took the battery out and put it back a few times but all the...

Is the laptop an HP DV 2000, 6000, or 9000 series? If so you could be one of the many afflicted with a problem that caused many HP laptops to go poof. There was an issue with these series of laptops motherboards causing the screen to go black, and then not power on. There was a recall that made the manufacturers warranty a year longer (from 1 to 2 years) but that has long since passed. Since it is the main board of the computer, it's a several hundred dollar repair and is typically more expensive to repair than it would be to buy a new laptop.

Regardless of whether or not this is your issue, I would recommend re-seating the RAM or having someone who is familiar with computers do this for you. Basically by removing and re-inserting the RAM in the computer you ensure there is a snug fit as this could cause a similar problem.

Monitor Screen goes black every few seconds!

Check the capacitors on your monitors circuit board. If they have opened up at the top, they are fried. Buy new ones, make sure nothing has leaked from the old ones, and replace them.

Monitor not working

It may well be dead. Try testing the monitor on another working PC. Also try a working monitor on the problem PC. Then you will know whether it's the monitor or the PC graphics card that's faulty.

Monitor and Mouse not working

GGGA indicates that the power on self test completed successfully.

GGGG indicates that the had off from the BIOS to the Windows Operating system was completed.

If you are not getting any video, and have an expansion video card, reseat the card. If you still don't have video, remove the card, and connect to the motherboard integrated video port (May have a black plastic cover on it)
