.EP 1054 does print faint on the page even darkened

check the transfer wire assy. located under the drum. might not have a good connection or the High Voltage unit is bad. That is a very old machine.

Sounds like a bad or defective toner. I would return it to the supplier and ask for a replacement.

Replace the toner cartridge.

maybe the optics mirror is dirty, remove the platten glass then clean all the optic mirror

This could be the laser unit 'window' being dirty, or contaminated with toner.

This is Maltesecross. Turns out that the faintness of my printed pages was in fact due to a low ink cartridge, even though some pages printed out fine and others half-good. Eventually, all pages turned faint, and upon re-installing the driver, I got a low-ink warning (the first one ever). Putting in a new ink cartridge solved the problem for me.
