How do i get rid of a "68.0 permanent storage full" error?

I have the 68.0 error and have tried cold restart and restarting while holding menu, restarting while holding cancel, and restarting while holding stop. Only the cold restart worked. Also, on my Mac the printer has an error message "OPC at end-of-life."

SOURCE: hp printer will not effectively cancel print

Solution by www.freaksmania.org,

We cannot turn off HP printers when the printing job is going on or it runs out of paper,Paper Jam or Cartridge runs out of Ink or any other reason,ie power failure.

To Cancel printing easily,
1)First plug out the Power Cable(the System tray icon will now disappear).

2)Plug out the USB Data Cable

3)Reconnect the power Cable and turn the printer on.

4)Turn the printer off again and Connect the USB Data Cable.

5)Turn on and then your existing printing Job will be Cancelled.

SOURCE: Permanent Storage Write fail

Hello,
It appears that there is a problem with either the internal hardrive if you have this option installed, or the removeable Jet direct card if you have one installed, thirdly, it could be bad memory or the main board.

Go to HP's website and perform a firmware upgrade for your model if there is one.

I would first remove any add on option like networkcard, memory .... then turn the machine back on and see if the error goes away. You can also go through the menu and perform a fatory reset, this however in the process loose your IP address.

Onece you have aliminated the options I would move onto the main board or FIRMWARE

HP Laser Jet 5500 DN Error 68.8 permanent storage error Clears after restart of the printer.

68.8 is a new one. It's not in the manual. The only two 68 errors I could find are 68.0 and 68.1.
In any case the 68 error says that one or more of the printer settings got hosed and reverted to its factory default.
Go through the printer settings and see if you can find what changed.

The easiest way to check is to print out a menu map.

1. Turn off the all-in-one.

2. Press and hold down the * and buttons.

3. Continue to hold down the buttons while you turn on the all-in-one. Hold the buttons throughout

the entire power-on sequence.

4. When Permanent Storage Init. appears on the control-panel display, release the buttons.
5. Allow the all-in-one to return to Ready before using it.

After following these steps the printer should ask for language when it restarts. Keep in mind you will lose all other settings you may have put in.

Hi! I will be glad to assist you in this issue.
Usually all you have to do is initialize hard disk even if you do not have one. Just turn off the printer. Turn the printer back on and when the memory starts to count hold down the menu key until all three lights come on. When all three lights are on solid release the menu button and press the arrow back button and initialize disk should appear in the menu. Just hit the check mark button again and it should take care of the problem.

here is the lin for additional solution:

`permanent storage full error` what does it mean????

The internal storage system is full. You need to run the HP Web Jetadmin software and delete unnecessary files from the EIO disk device. When done, press the select button on the printer to return it to a ready state. You should be able to print small jobs yet as long as it doesn't require any temporary (or permanent) storage on the EIO disk.
