Just hold power button for 5 sec when it beebs let off! this resets your video and will now let the game work! I did not realize if your tv settings are changed some games will work while others give an error. this fixed the problem for me on Black ops! Good luck.
You need to sync your controller with the ps3, put the USB dongle into one of the available slots on the ps3 - exactly where you would normally connect a wired controller on the front. Now switch on your ps3, the dongle will connect, now put your USB cable into the black ops controller and switch on - your 4 lights should be flashing on the controller. Now press connect on the USB dongle, your controller should now sync to the ps3 and hopefully will show as controller No 1. Remove the USB cable and play wireless.
Try going to download it again. XboxLive/ PSN can tell you already bought it so it wont charge you again, but it WILL download everything. Problem solved
I have had the same problem with my MadCatz PrecisionAIM 360 Controller. It is because of MadCatz low quality standards. Basically the only way to fix it is to open the controller and re-solder the connections
It sound like the controller is faulty. I suggest returning it. with PS3 controllers 3 party brands tend to be cheaply built. Its best to buy sony's controllers.
Unfortunately that particular controller has been noted for it's somewhat spotty performance. You may just have one of the many lemons for that product, so I suggest first taking the product, along with your receipt, back to where you bought it and asking for an exchange. (You did save the package, right? Maybe you don't need it if your just going to exchange it for another, but better safe then sorry.)
As for a long term solution, check online before you buy an aftermarket product like that. Reading the reviews on a place like Amazon will give you an idea of the product, and a list of things that are good and bad about it before you go out and buy one, either online or in a store. There are plenty of good items for the PS3, but there are some that haven't had enough work put into them yet.
Good luck with your controller, and your Black Ops sessions.
