I have a hp 6500. It has started printing pink instead of black.

Either:
* printers mix in a bit of "colour" ink when you request BLACK,
so that the colour ink-jets do not dry-out. So, since your BLACK has become EMPTY, all you get is PINK,

or,

* some printers mix colours to produce BLACK-ish colour.
Check that your CYAN and YELLOW ink-cartridges have not gotten to be EMPTY.

Pinkish tint in photo color copies ....... Is there a way to adjust the color ?

The "secondary" colours are produced by mixing the "primary" colours. One of the "primary" colours inside your inkjet cartridge is out of ink, and the resulting "actual" mix is not the "theoretical" mix.

Refill or replace the ink-cartridge.

All of our photos end with a magenta to purplish hue. We are using Canon inks, and followed standard trouble-shooting procedures; checked proper placement, printer alignment, deep cleaning. We are also...

Print a "test" page:

<FONT COLOR="#FF0000"> RED TEXT </FONT><HR>
<FONT COLOR="#00FF00"> GREEN TEXT </FONT><HR>
<FONT COLOR="#0000FF"> BLUE TEXT </FONT><HR>

<FONT COLOR="#FF00FF"> MIX RED & BLUE INK </FONT><HR>
<FONT COLOR="#00FFFF"> MIX GREEN & BLUE INK </FONT><HR>

and see if the printed colors are "true" to what you see on the computer-screen.

Ink

No, the new printers do not mix the ink when the black has run out. when the ink is out it is out and needs replacing. The modern range of printers are far more advanced in their technology and require all inks to be full in order to work correctly.

Instructions on refilling cartridge for brother LC41CL cartridge

Do mix the ink with some glycerol to prevent clogging!

2ml glycerol (85%-glycerin alc. from drugstore) with 10ml of ink for C/Y/M and shake well (mix) before use. Mix 1,5 ml glycerol with 20ml BK ink.

Simply drill a hole into the brandname (O of brother) on top of the cart. Refill with 12ml for C/Y/M and about 21ml for bk.

You can leave the hole open.

Next time when cart is empty simply open scanner and refill without taking the cart out! ;-)

DO MIX THE INK WITH GLYCEROL!!!

Follow up of clogged printhead

DO use the 1:10 mix and try the powerpurge.

Mix 1ml printhead cleaning solution (search internet) with 10ml of dye ink.

DONT USE ALCOHOL or any other kind of chemical solution except the printhead cleaning solution.

If you wont have success after doing it twice the ph is clogged and cant be fixed anymore!

The printheads construction is like a sandwich: In front of the nozzels is a filter to clean the ink before pressing it through the nozzels onto the paper. That is the main reason why some ink chanels will clog. You cant open the printhead to clean the filter.

Drop some ink into normal water and watch the flow:

dye ink will mix with water (like dropping a paintbrush with watercolors into the cleaning glass) while pigmented ink wont do so:

(translate german by help of google)

The 1:10 mix wont affect the quality though ink always consists of 98-99% of water! It prevents the ink from drying out.

The bk part of the printhead has another stand-alone construction and doesnt need any "support" by help of additives.
