You should get a code reader to see if there are any OBD codes that are set. This problem is usually caused by the crank sensor

The graduations are incremental for your ozone output for the purifier control. Generally, the machine can put out enough ozone to cover 3000 sq ft. (when the control is moved all the way to the right, about 5 o'clock.) Half way should be about 1500 sq ft or 12 o'clock. For general air cleansing, you should set the purifier control to produce enough ozone so you smell it when walking into the room (after home) for about 30 seconds. The ozone smell should disappear after that. If it lingers, you've got it set too high. For more severe odor control you can set it higher but remember that some of us are more sensitive to the odor no matter what the setting. It may need some adjustment based on your individual preferences.

I'm confused about the 'red plates' as you mentioned. The original machine comes w/ 2 ozone plates (made of glass) and doesn't produce ozone when one of the plates is removed. I'm guessing that the lines may tell you when you're engaging both plates to work, i.e. more ozone being produced & blown into the room or less only calling on one plate to produce ozone. If you send me a close up pic of the control panel I may be able to tell you more.

When the service engine soon light (Also called the check engine light) is turned on this is to alert you to the fact that powertrain control module (computer) has detected a failure somewhere in the systems it controls, this can be the transmission or the engine or emission system, there are fault codes set in the modules memory for these faults. What needs to happen now is to have the powertrain control module scanned with a special tool called an OBD2 electronic engine control scanner or a OBD2 code reader. Once the code(s) are read then you must perform the diagnostics for each code and make the appropriate repairs based on the findings of the diagnosis that was performed, this is called doing "Pinpoint" testing.

Where is the cold control set at? They have an off position.

You can try to get it to reset itself by doing the following:
Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF. Unplug the unit and leave unplugged for 12 - 15 minutes. Then plug the unit back in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the controls as you normally do. Hopefully, the 12 - 15 minute timeout, allowed the unit to reset itself.

Generally, this works 90% of the time. I hope it works for you.

Here's something that has worked in the past. Turn the Master ON/OFF switch to OFF. Unplug the unit from the wall outlet and wait 12 - 15 minutes before plugging it back in. Once it's plugged back in turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON and set the controls as you normally do.I f everything now functions as it should, the unit reset itself.

If that doesn't solve the problem contact the Oreck Service Dept that did the tuneup for you.

If the unit is under-warranty, I'd contact the dealer who sold it to you, or EcoQuest customer service (info follows). Get an RMA# (Returned Merchandise Authorization) and take it from there.

If it's not under warranty, they will still repair it, but will charge you. If the controls aren't working, you'll probably need to decide if it's worth it or if you should consider purchasing a new one. Getting into fixing circuit boards or other electonics gets expensive in a hurry.

There should be a timer button that can be depressed to set the amount of run time desired up to 8 hours.

If you press the timer button 9 times it will return the unit to no timer control function and the display panel should show no time in it's window.
