42 Inch Philips plasma

I have a 42" Philips plasma bought at best buy in 7-05 from the get go it did not work right. The tv would shut of and on by itself so they sent a tech and fixed it but it still will go blank no and then and come back on.And they would not trade tvs with me so I was stuck. But now I was using it to run my cam cor-der thru it to record a dvd that I have hooked up to the tv.All of sudden I looked up and the screen has horizontal black lines and the picture is fuzzy and super imposed images on the screen with sparkles??
I have tried to reset many times and it does not help. Also there are no techs in my area so it will cost me time and money to get it fixed.Anything I can do?? Thank You.....Chuck

I just had the 4th repair man leave my house telling me they can't find anything wrong with it. Like yours, it randomly turns off and back on through out the day, every day. It doesn't qualify for the lemon law because there has to be 4 complete repair attempts, they haven't done ANY, they stand around waiting for it to happen and after a couple of minutes, when it doesn't, they say there's nothing wrong with it, then they leave.

I have a 42 inch philips plasma tv with a broken screen, could i replace it with a screen from a panasonic 42 inch tv

No--this is called a PDP or plasma display panel and no two (even same brand) can be interchanged.

The cost of a Panel exceeds the cost of a new set--broken screen=fatal issue.

We have lost a two inch wide black section on the right side of the plasma panel, any ideas

Most likely the lower buffer board " E " needs to be replaced. Right now I'm working on repairing a 42" Samsung plasma HP-R4272. The Service manual for that TV says for trouble shooting for that problem is the lower buffer board " E ".
Best to find the correct Service Manual for your TV over the internet to get the correct part number for replacement. The Service Manual should be less than $20.

Green screen

I am a TV repair technician and what you are experiencing with your plasma and PS3 is a HDMI compatibility problem. The Philips plasma and the PS3 electronic handshaking (EDID) are not right. This happens alot with an older version of HDMI like 1.1(Philips Plasma) and a newer version of HDMI 1.3 (PS3). A tv firmware or PS3 firmware update will not resolve the problem. I would recommend using the HD component video cables and that should work just fine for playing High Definition BluRay movies.

42 inch

its gonna be cheaper for u to buy a new TV than buy a replacement panel if your looking to buy one I highly doubt you will be able to find one under $1500 and thats not including the shipping charge for a panel that weights 80 lbs. Best bet is too buy a new TV.
