I volunteered to look at a stihl strimmer carb, after the local stihl shop lost all gaskets, and possibly another part. would it be possible to have a diagram breakdown of an rb66 carb so i can work out which part they have lost. thank you. [email protected]

I am rebuilding a Stihl trimmer model FS 110 R carburetor and I need to know what gaskets to use and where they go

You will need to remove the carb and see who made it as most manufacturer buy there carbs. , ie: walboro, it will have a marking on it along with the carb number such as wt784. Then you can go to ebay or your local lawn mower shop and they should have the rebuild kit. It cost about 4 to 6 dollars. Just reassemble it the same as you take it apart. When you take the jets out be sure to count the turns and then you can put them back when you are done. In addition if you look real close, because the stamp are tiny you will see a L for low idle and H for high speed. Hope this helps.

My stihl fs400 strimmer starts first time and runs on full throttle then dies a few moments later starts first time and does ame thing again

inside the muffler there is a screen that gets all gummed up, take muffler assy. apart and clean screen, if you have a propane torch, this works well as you burn crud off it becomes ash and wipes or blows off. first link shows how.

My stihl saw ts410 runs ok but as soon as you come to rev it ,it cuts out can you help

try setting your carb, you will see three holes at the side of the machine nr to the fuel cap. the one at the bottom screw it in as far as it will go then unscrew it 4 turns, the one above it do the same again but unscrew it one and a half turns, if this dont work its possible draging air in from somwere ie, crank seals, inpluse pipe, gaskets. it will need to be presure tested.

Echo srm2000b strimmer - has good compression but no induction

  • Check your muffler's spark arrestor screen. It could be plugged with carbon and not allowing the engine to breathe.
  • Another good possibility is bad gaskets/seals in the crankcase or just loose screws. A vacuum and pressure test of the engine should find these.

Leaf blowers

Your local Stihl dealer would be the best place to get a carb, but you can save money by shopping round online. I have used L&S engineering in the past. But it depends where you are in the world. :)

Brand new royobi strimmer RLT30CET will not start very easily , even foll owing manufactoure instructions. could anybody explain why? Dave F

The manufacturer's of the cheaper "big BOX stores" trimmer carburetors are made in foreign lands, with adjustments basically set to their liking. Ryobis use ZAMA and RUEIING carburetors. Mexico and China are just 2 of the foreign places they are made. Unfortunately, the factory settings don't always work well in the locale the machine is sold in.This is POSSIBLY one of your problems.Higher end trimmer manufacturers set up their machines (eg. Stihl, Echo, Kawasaki, Husqvarna) prior to selling them. The carbs get adjusted for the local climate.Elevation effects carb function a good deal. A standard diaphragm carb is dependent upon the atmospheric pressure to work. Try to check if the carb is adjusted properly, first. Here is a tutorial.

Starts ok wont pick up speed

check to see if the throttle cable is hooked up to the carb. look at the back of the motor and watch as you pull the the throttle to see if the cable is hooked up. if the cable looks to be working correctly then pull the spark plug up and heat it up with a blow torch and put it back in. if the motor runs good then you need a new spark plug. if those two things do not work then you need to replace the carb diapram and gaskets.
