I bought an HP Pavillion zv6000 on Ebay and the keyboard is not working. It is a used laptop. HOPEFULLY SOMEONE CAN HELP ME

hello

PN494AV is the part number -- please verify this on the baclk of your notebook
BOTTOM OF PAGE IS A VIDEO ON HOW TO DO THIS --

if so, the keyboard (US English) p/n 383664-001 . This is for HP Pavilion zv6000 (PN494AV) CTO FF Notebook . call LAPTOP PARTS, phone [949]-878-9501, USA they have it for about $20-$30

i would suggest getting this notebook to a qualified technician. Otherwise, if you think you are bale to replace it (it's fairly simple), save some money and DIY (do it yourself) .

here are the instructions HOW TO Remove the keyboard
first shut down system, unplu power cord, remove the battery from compartment

In the battery compartment you'll find three screws securing the HP Pavilion zv6000 keyboard to the laptop base. Remove these three screws.

Carefully lift up the top side of the keyboard as it shown on the picture below. There are small plastic latches securing the keyboard on both side but they should't be a problem. Do not lift up the keyboard too much, it's still connected to the motherboard.

Set the keyboard so you can access the cable connector underneath. You'll have to unlock the connector before you can release the cable and remove the keyboard.

Carefully lift up the keyboard. Disconnect the keyboard from the motherboard . remove old keyboard and replace with the one you bought.
WARNING! Be very careful with the connector. Lift the tab, as it releases the connection. You cannot replace the connector if you accidentally break it. The connector is permanently attached to the motherboard. If it's broken, the whole motherboard has to be replaced.

here is a video for a DV6000 series, same concept -- to give you the idea on how it's done

HP PAVILION ZV6000 LAPTOP CMOS BATTERY LOCATION

You have to take the keyboard off. Gently pry the plastic strip that is between the top of the keyboard and hinges. Unscrew the (2 to 4) screws holding the keyboard down. Slide the keyboard up and out. You should see the battery with 2 wires going to the motherboard. Pull the battery connector off the board, take out the battery and wait for about 30 seconds. Replacing it is easy once you have it open.

HP Pavilion zv6000 Notebook PC keyboard replaced

Probably the keyboard you got is defective. I have seen buttons working in very bad conditions. When a key doesnt work or several is bad news.

Try to get a replacement. Since you have already reseated this simply check if the flex cable is properly locked, (ear plugs or similar) and not moving.
