Convergence problem Hi I just bought my samsung from my brother and it has a problem with the convergence board. It has red lines through the top of the screen and you see double picture and the red is out.Any way I was wondering if any one could tell me if the convergence board is a plug in or if it has to be soldered in,and where the board is on the tv. thanks

Sure I have this set,and have replaced my convergence board. I think there is an automatic convergence with this set because I didn't have to do any manual convergence after I installed the replacement board. Maybe I got lucky....

Take the cover off the rear of the set. (Unplug it first- duh)
Look to the top right, a board is screwed onto a metal support running horizontally across the set. I think there a 4 plugs but mark the ones red, green and blue as they have the same connectors and can be re-connected incorrectly. Unscrew the board from the frame, pop off the connections and put on the new board. My new board came with new connection cables so I replaced those also. I turned my TV on, did a Perfect focus and it looked good as new. I was really proud of myself that day.

But after you get it fixed, turn around and sell the set. I have had alot of work done on mine in the several years I have owned it.

Oh and make your brother pay for the new convergence board. The one I got was BP94-00155A.

brent hardin,

Your description of the problem sounds like a convergence issue. You more than likely have lost the convergence ICs. They will need to be replaced and the convergence will have to be set. The green beam should not move. It is the standard which the red and green are moved to overlap. Since you have bow at the top and bottom I would replace the convergence ICs. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4220499-change_projection_tv_convergence_ics which explains the problem, how to replace the parts and where to get the replacement parts.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating. Great ratings will keep the experts helping to solve problems. Thank you.

Too much red in screen on Large Screen Projection TV

Try to adjust the convergence in the adjust menu. If this doesn;t help then you probably have a defective convergence board. one or more of the convergence ic's has to be replaced.

Green and pink shadow on my samsung 55in proj tv what can i do to fix it. i all ready fixed red and blue line but green is way off and i dont see any way to fix it

hi, this is the early signs of convergence board chip failure. you will need to replace this board in order to correct the collaboration feature. the convergence is responsible for regulating the RGB stream in you set. if it is malfunctioning, you will not be able to regulate the red blue green streams.

The convergence board wont correct the problem. You need to replace the two Convergence ICs on the sub board STK392-040 and you will be back to normal. See my response above. That site will help you get it back to normal.

HCM4215W Green convergence problem

Hi Greg,
Sounds like you have a bad convergence chip in the convergence board. Unfortunatly, about 80% of the rear projection sets I work on have this similar problem. I suggest that you change both chips ( there are 2 of the same ) and remember to use heat sink compound as this is why you not have the problem ( excessive heat destoys electronic components). Good Luck
