Sounds like the compressor is frozen - sound you hear is the clixon a special sort of resettable fuse on compressors. When they do not start or overheat, it kills the power - when it cools power is restored until it reheats again and .......................

Use ammeter to confirm this - it will show a much greater than normal current draw.

How To Test the Compressor Relay The compressor relay's purpose is to start the compressor. A faulty relay can result in the compressor failing to cycle on. The relay is accessed from the lower rear of the refrigerator the relay is located in the terminal box which is located at the side of the compressor.

Before testing a compressor relay, unplug the refrigerator to avoid an electrical shock hazard. Also, if the compressor uses a capacitor, it must be discharged first to avoid the risk of electrical shock.
Beneath the terminal cover is found the compressor relay , overload protector and the electrical terminals of the compressor motor.

Remove the compressor relay by pulling it straight off from the compressor.

Pull the wire off of the side terminal of the relay. It is connected with a slip on connector. Firmly pull the connector, do not pull on the wire. You may need to use a pair of needle-nose pliers.
Inspect the connector and terminal for corrosion. If either is corroded they should be cleaned or replaced.
There are two types of relays you may encounter, wire coil and solid state. If the relay has an exposed wound wire coil it can be tested for continuity. Otherwise, the relay is of solid state design and requires specialized equipment for testing.

Manage my life com sears

It depends on if there is anything in it! Those types of coolers are only designed to drop temps of wine bottles to below room temp a few degrees. They don't cool like refrigerator in your kitchen.

I have a Haier BC112G. It is not cooling at all. Temp panel works, so I can set the thermostat up or down, but nothing happens and it just goes back to room temp after that.

Our magic chef wine cooler (mcwc50dbt) when temp is set on digital panel at 45-50 it jumps immediately back to 70 degrees constantly

Fan comes on; however, can't get the desired temperature to set. I select it and two seconds later it shows a higher temperature.

Hi Kate, When you press the button for your desired temperatre setting it will show this temp' say 17*c for a few seconds then it will revert back to showing the actual room temp' say 23*c, it should then cool the room down to what you set it at. hope this helps.

Magic Chef MCWC50DBT wine cooler has power and shows temp reading of 74 degree (room temp) but won't keep cool down. Compressor will come on every once in a while if you nudge the fridge but after cooling...

Have the same issue with the mcwc50dbt.

The relay seems fine, no oxidation on ceramic insert.

I used to tap the back of control panel and sometimes the compressor would start up, cool the unit, but would not come back on again by its own.

I removed the control board this weekend and it looks fine (ie, no burn marks or loose soldered connections on board as seen in other posts), however if I wiggle the wires leading from the inside top of the fridge cabinet to the control board, the compressor will come on, but again will not come on again after the temp is reached. So how do I know if the issue is with the control board and needs to be replaced, or if the issue is something else?

Have a new ac system installed thermostat is set at 76 shows room and setting the same all the time shouldn't the room temp rise before unit comes on.

Yes the temp should rise 2 to 3 degrees before the unit comes on, This is called the temp swing, try lowering the temp setting and wait for the temp to drop, then set it back when you want it.

Vinotemp 2 zone wine cooler flashes "Lo" on numeric display for lower compartment - will not hold temperature requested. Temp in upper compartment will not go below 67 even though it is set for 51. Room...

Not sure, but did you clean the filter in the back? Ours has that, and the temp starts creeping up every few weeks until I clean it. But we've never been able to get it below 58 or so, and in the last year, not below 60. I think that's just the nature of this type of cooling. Our house is also at 80. But, can keep it at 60 with the above cleaning.

My appartment does not have cenral AC/heat, it has a GE cooling/heater unit in each room. You can set up low heat or high heat but it continues runing on until you manually stop it when is to hot. Is there...

the unit runs all the time because of the fan (ventilation motor)-but it is not working on cooling or heating all the time - The ventilation motor pushes the air from the room through the machine and when the termostat is reading that you set it up for cooler air or warm air it will turn on the air conditioning part or the heating part of the machine-it is very good system actually
