Omnitech Model 16878 GPS ''waiting for GPS signal''

I have had the Omnitech Model 16878 for 6 months and suddenly it says ''waiting for GPS signal'' for 3 days now...tried resetting to no avail

There is a firmware update to correct this issue, if you are still having it.

How do I replace the battery in my Omnitech gps model #16878?
HELLO THERE:
Since Staple's Omnitech GPS has a lithium-ion battery, the compartment should be pretty inaccessible. That is, you'll probably have to take out some screws that you see on the back of the unit. Definitely check out the manual before you try accessing it to avoid breaking something!

Omnitech GPS 16878
  • Try to press and hold the power button for 15 sec when the unit is off
  • then when the gps on check if it will go thru but if it is not try to press the reset button for 10 sec and then release.
  • if still not work try to charge the battery sometimes the cause of the freezing of the screen is when the unit is low in battery and also check the website if there is a new firmware for your gps if there is download it.

Displays 'Waiting for GPS signal' forever.
It all started June 13th some type of bug with the software. Omnitech has posted a fix for the 16878. Here is the link describing the problem and the fix.
