How to open an remote control

I have a Philips flat screen which is supplied with remote control RC4302.
Some keys are a bit sticky, I guess some coke or something must have slipped through. The aim is to open it up and clean it out. I managed to remove two screws at the back behind the battery cover, but that's it.
I can't find a way to remove both the front panel and back panel from each other. Would you guys have any experience with this?

  1. Remove battery cover & the batterys
  2. Remove 2 screw (torx 6)
  3. Take a (new) 1 " putty-knife
  4. Pry gently the putty-knife between the front (metal look) cover and the grey back-cover on the long side.
  5. Start in the middle and work the the corner.
  6. The grey backcover should be lifted gently outwards and unhooked from the front.
  7. Be careful , don't break the plastic hooks

I have a philips flat screen ( model num 42pf5320/10 ) but i need a new remote

Philips original remotes are quite expensive so I would get a cheaper programmable Universal Remote Control and set it up for a Philips. eBay sell them, and the orginals.

Turn on Player
Using Remote Control open the Disk Tray (and leave open)
Using Remote Control Press SetUp
Using Remote Control Scroll To Preference using Left / Right Arrow keys (Just Highlight it do NOT select it)
Using Remote Control Press 1 3 8 9 3 1

Region Menu Screen Should Appear

Using Remote Control Select Desired Region Using Up / Down Arrow Keys (0 [Zero] For Region Free)

Hope this helps.

Hello, my Sony remote control RM-ED008 has developed a fault in that a couple of buttons do not function. My gut feeling is that the touch pad inside the remote may require cleaning. Can someone please...

I had same issue - took it apart on the off chance it may be dirty inside. Low and behold sticky substance - my guess juice (or beer!) on pcb sensors - gave it a quick clean and drying out, good as new.

My philips flat tv keeps on going to the menu screen on its own.

Make sure you do not have a sticky remote. Remove the batteries from the remote and turn it on manually at the TV itself.

If the menu does not come up, your remote has problems. Did you spill anything on it or drop the remote?

other possibility is that you have a neighbor with a similar remote.

Good Luck!

Sticks or later automaticly returns back to menu screen. sticky

I have not finished solving but I believe that I am pointed in the right direction. This in paticular always wanting to ramdomly return to the menu screen without any prompts. Sopposedly by updateing the firmware/software should take care of it?
I hope it does....well anyway wish me good luck.......Thanks guys

32 flat screen problem with remote and menu

Sounds like you need to get a Green Setup remote but if you are using this privately you will not be able to obtain one to program the tv. They are only available to hotels since the tv's are for commercial use.
