Disconnect batteries. remove the 2 small wires from solenoids. attach jumper wires from the 2 terminals on solenoids 1 to + and 1 to - on battery. solenoids have a coil inside and the small wires when energized close the contacts. even though the solenoid closes it is possible that the contacts are burnt and wont allow the full amperage to pass.

I have a Patterson Eventer golf buggy, it goes about 12 inches and stops abruptly in forward or reverse. What's wrong?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to golf.

Solenoid. (electro-magnetically operated switch)

What are the symptoms of a bad solenoid in a golf cart? On an electric golf cart, the most common symptom is the solenoid is not delivering electricity to the controller when the vehicle's ignition is turned on. In normal operating conditions, the solenoid clicks on and off with the ignition switch. A failing solenoid will generally not click.

If it clicks, it is more likely to be the accelerator potentiometer, basically the variable gas pedal. Great resource in the link for Golf Cart woes.

36 volt ezgo

First of all, lift rear axle off the ground and place blocks or jack stands underneath. Check to see if you have 36 volts On your batteries. Now you want to run a jumper across the big cables on the solenoid. Press the accelerator and the motor should engage. Clicking is a pretty sure sign that the solenoid is bad. Please let me know if this is useful. I can further elaborate more troubleshooting if this doesn't solve your problem.

I really need a wirring diagram for a 1974 gas powered amf harley davidson golf cart. thanks for your help!

If you'l Google 'H-D golf carts", you'll get lots dealers that sell the manuals and the schematics are in those. The manuals aren't that expensive and contain all the info you need to fix anything that goes wrong with your cart. Believe me when I tell you that the manual will pay for itself. The reason I say this is because there is NOT ONE THAT WILL WORK ON ONE OF THESE CARTS as far as I know of. The H-D dealers won't even look at one. Since parts are sometimes hard to get, the other cart dealers won't mess with them either. So, you're relegated to doing you own work. You need the manual.

Good luck
Steve
