The photosmart c7280 printer will not receive or send fax. what am i doing wrong?

If the ink levels are ok, using tools menu clean and then allign cartridges.

Press the Setup button on the front panel of your All in One

Go to Print report

Check for Fax report it may be off turn it On

try reinstalling the drivers. make sure your telephone line is plugged in correctly and is functional

Hi,

Followup the steps to setup the printer to send/receive fax.

Connect the phone line ( wire ) to Line 1 Ext at the back of printer port.
The connection is from the Phone socket to printer.


Press the Auto-Answer button on the front panel of the printer to enable automatic fax receiving.
If your no. of rings on voice mail or Answering machine is 4, you need to set 6 Rings to Answer on printer to receive the fax or else the printer will start accepting all the voice mail calls.

Press the Setup button on printer front panel
Scroll till you find Basic Fax settings Or Advanced Fax settings - Press OK
Choose the option Rings to Answer - Press OK
Set the No. of rings. - Press OK

Your printer is ready to send/receive Fax.

Hi Lnda! Yes you can.It also save $$$ on your electricity bill.But if you got a business and receive fax you can leave it just if someone want to send you a fax.

1. Unplug power cable while the printer is ON.
2. Press and hold the '#' and '3' buttons, and plug the cable back into the printer.
3. Continue holding the buttons down for 20 seconds, and then release it.

if doesn't initialize successfully repeat
on step 2 press and hold the '#' and '6' button and plug in the power cable.

Go to menu option and choose the option fax and set the parameter like auto receive or manual set the ring auto answer mode after certain ring. If it is in auto receiving mode it will receive the fax after the ring which you set. Make sure the phone wire which you insert in fax machine getting proper dial tone and getting out going calling facility.

Try this:

Press the Setup button (it might be the sign of a monkey range)

1. Press the Down arrow ( ) to highlight Print Report , then press OK .
2. Press the Down arrow ( ) to highlight Fax Confirmation , then press OK .
3. Press the Down arrow ( ) to select one of the following options in the table below, then press OK

On Fax Send Prints a fax confirmation report for every fax you send. On Fax Receive Prints a fax confirmation report for every fax you receive. Send and Receive Prints a fax confirmation report for every fax you send and receive. Off Does not print a fax confirmation report when you send and receive faxes successfully. This is the default setting.

If you are using DSL I suggest you to use filter. that will resolve your issue
