SOURCE: poulan model p3314 recoil spring won't go in correctly

You need to pretension it. Remove the pull handle, rotate the spool about 2 revolutions against the spring, rethread the cord and reinstall the handle.

SOURCE: Need the know the correct H and L settings for our

There are no hard and fast settings.
The initial starting point "H" and "L" are 1.5 turns CCW from lightly seated.
The"T" adjustment enters here too (idle speed) and there is initial setting without a tach, depending on age may not be any initial "T" setting.
The "L" needle is primarily idle performance (not speed) and acceleration to full throttle.
The "H" is mostly performance at speed, but all are interconnected.

Fresh mix of fuel. Put ALL of the old mix in any 4 cycle and start new. I suggest 50:1 regardless of what your manual says. This is the best performance adjustment I have found.
Carburetor Adjustment by Madsens.com
http://www.madsens1.com/saw%20carb%20tune.htm

  • CW is leaner; to lean will destroy the saw. If over tightened closed (CW) the adjustment screw faces are easily marred; marred adjustments are difficult to impossible to set properly.
  • Clean the air filter; adjusting with a dirty filter can cause a run lean condition once cleaned and the saw run.
  • Clean the spark arrestor and muffler; if the saw cannot exhale it cannot inhale.
  • There are 2 wav (sound - idle & full - may not be highlighted) files that I find most helpful, I think you will too.
If push comes to shove a local saw shop (I prefer Stihl mechanics and do not own a Stihl) should be considered.

SOURCE: diagram of fuel lines from tank to primer to carb

clip_image002.gifFuel components are onthe "Engine Assembly" & "Handle, Chassis, & BarAssembly" detail pages.
Replacement fuel lines can be found at yourlocal chainsaw seller/mechanic. They are different diameters.

Fuel Line Replacement

  • The hose in the tank with the filter on the free end connects directly to the carburetor input connection.
  • If the saw is equipped with a primer bulb, the output line from the carburetor connects to the suction side of the primer (once the bulb is collapsed it draws fuel from the tank through the carburetor to refill the bulb as it inflates).
  • The pressure side of the primer returns displaced fuel to the tank as it is depressed.

I have poulan p3314 chain saw replaced carb primer button and fuel lines and filter still want start. Have spark to plug tryed cranking with carb cleaner still no luck. Am seeing air bubbles in return...

My guess is you left gas in the carb (esp Ethanol) and the carb is clogged. These small engines carburetor have extremely small jets and often you need a complete disassembly to rod out the jets.

Personally it's just not worth my time and I would buy a new carb. $30 or so.

Need a diagram of fuel line routing

Right you have three hoses, there are two holes in the tank unit, the smaller of the two holes ( too the left hand side as you look down on top) this is the main fuel hose which has the fuel filter on the end in the tank, this then fits to the right hand connection on the carb, there is then a short hose which connects to the carb on the left hand side, and then goes to the shorter of the two connections on the back of the primer ( suction side ) there is then a hose from the longer connection on the primer( pressure side ) back to the hole to the right hand side of the tank , so to recap the primer pulss fuel from the carb, into the primer bulb, and dumps back to the tank.

Need diagram of fuel lines from tank to primer bulb and carburator on a Poland chainsaw model 1950 wood shark

There are 7 different types of the 1950 model (types 1 - 7) and it came with one of these 2 carbs Walbro or Zama. The carbs are different as are the fuel line connections for each one.
Although this video is for the promer bulb you can see the routing of the fuel lines.
http://www.ereplacementparts.com/article/4262/How_to_Replace_a_Primer_Bulb.html

You will have one line from the fuel tank connecting to primer bulb the 2nd line going to the carb. If you connect it backward it does not pump fuel into the carb.

Kelly
(FYI Types 1 - 5 all have the same fuel line routing.)

I have a Poulan 2375 chainsaw. The fuel lines became brittle and broke. I purchased new lines, but I need a diagram to see where the belong... there are two different size lines... but where the heck do...

The IPL (exploded parts list) for your saw is the only detail for fuel line routing and it is sketchy at best. It does show components and part numbers. Find it here:
Poulan.com
http://www.ordertree.com/modelinfo/POULAN-WEED-EATER/75.59.html
The dash number of your serial number is the type.

Find a model number that matches your saw.
Fuel lines run from the tank to the carburetor to the purge pump and back to the tank. Take extensive notes and a few digital photos as you go are a good idea.
