My pc is not recognizing the scanner

What OS is running on your computer? Epson has the drivers/software available on their site: http://tech.epson.com.au/downloads/category.asp?sCategory=Multi_Functional&id=StylusTX410&SelOS=Y . Download and install the appropriate software before connecting the USB cable from the printer to the computer.

Note: the software from this site does not include any third-party software that may have been on the original CD.

You've not said what the message is but I suspect that the software is too old to be used on the macbook if it is running OS X 10.7 (Lion) or if you are running snow leopard, it may be a non-intel version of the software. It may be asking you to instal rosetta which would be on your snow leopard instal disk.

If the Nikon website does not have updated software you could try vuescan which according to this page http://www.hamrick.com/vuescan/nikon_coolscan_iv_ed.html does work with the film scanner and you can download a demo version which you can trial before you buy. Hope this helps.

Did you go to Device Manager to check if driver is correctly installed ? If you see a yelllow triangle next to the " imaging devices " , go to it and delete ( not only uninstall ) driver .
Now disconnect scanner and go to the Control Pannel \ programs and delete the software . I preferably use a cleaning tool for this such as the free version of Revo Uninstaller from http://download.cnet.com/3001-2096_4-10687648.html?spi=813daf819502a35822c69ef942f383fe
Reboot . Do not connect scanner yet . Download and install correct and latest version of HP scanner's software from http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=298549&lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15179&prodSeriesId=298547&taskId=135 .
Reboot . Wait for Windows to be completely settled . Connect scanner and wait for confirmation of successfull instalation of driver .

You have to make a folder on you computer to scan to. you have to configure the scanner file utility with the path to that folder. You have to setup the scanner NIC with a sender ans a destination. The destination has to point to the PC running the scnner file utility by inputting the computer hostname or IP. The scanner nic can be configured with your web browser by putting the scanner NIC IP in the address bar. You have to make sure your firewall is not blocking the file scanner utillity. Last options that you can do is to reinstall the Software.
First check the compatability of Easyshare, Right Click the icon on your desktop and click compatability tab, then remove all check marks under that tab.

Remove the Easyshare Software from the Control Panel, Add Remove programs

Then Run the clear utility software from the web at this site

After that restart the PC

Then try reintalling the software from the web

Make sure that there are no other devices connected to your PC while installing the software, including printers and Scanner.

Have your scanner turned on when you boot up your computer. Go to Programs, Acessories, Scanner and camera wizard, and it will give you directions if the scanner is not installed and recognized.

my scanmagic 1200ub is recognized by my pc but i keep getting a message saying"cannot locate component.could it be that particular port?

i have vista home and mine worked fine until i installed a web cam and then it just gave up. But now it works great - here is what i did

unpluged both the scanner and the web cam
uninstalled everything to to w/ the scanner and the web cam.
Installed the driver from the CD and restarted my machine
Install the Photo 6 software
plug in the scanner - works like a champ.

have not reinstalled the web cam
