How do i copy a vcr to a dvd using liteon

you might need a program like AnyDvd which removes copywright from a dvd and allows you to burn it without any restrictions to be able to play the dvd in australia

Yes, you can, I have this unit and have actually copied a dvd to a vhs and then copied back to a dvd as I wanted a dvd copy to give a friend. The directions in the book are really quite simple. They tell you how to set the vhs to the spot where you want to start copying, etc.

I have not yet tried copying my family vhs tapes, but don't see a problem, just a big project. Good luck.

Laser either dirty or starting to go.Try cleaning laser with commerical disc cleaner,put a drop of rubbing alcohol on brushing.Laser can be cleaned manually with a Q tip dipped in rubbing alcohol but this requires opening burner.If you do this MAKE CERTAIN ELECTRICAL PLUG IS PULLED,lasers cause nasty burns.
Some times the problem is just the brand of disc,some brands don''t work in Liteon's.
If laser is going the burner can be replaced.Most of the Liteon 5001's used Liteon 401s burners,411s or 451s dvd burners all will work.The dvd burners mount from the bottom PC burners mount from the side so they would have to be adapted,many PC burners won't work in these older liteons some freeze up the second you hit fast forward.

I have successfully made hundreds of play-able DVDs from my home video using this Liteon LVC9016G. Overall I like this machine although it is very quirky.

First, I can tell you the only DVD that can work is SONY DVD+R 120min / 4.7GB. NOTHING ELSE WILL WORK RIGHT. I have used some DVD-R: You can record on it since everything appears to work. The got-ya is you cannot play it at all. I am sick of this because I have re-used some tape but ended up with useless DVDs! Take my word for it, I have tried many media like Maxwell or Verbatin. These "other brands" are fine on the computer but not on this machine. I don't know what this machine can detect and see the differences in the media.

The good thing is that I was able to connect the DV port from my camcorder (Sony mini DV) to the dv port on this unit. Cable was not included so I bought one very cheap from eBay. This connection gives the best control as the LiteOn remote control can control the recording from camcorder to the DVD recorder and even make different menu items. This is not a published feature but I figured out. As I said I have made hundreds of home video on this unit and it is very nice (when it works.)

I bought a universal "learning" remote that cost $20 at wally world and programed it using the original remote. Works great

you need to down load the software from liteon it has the right drivers, did the unit not come with a program disk if not the web site address will be on the warrenty info. its one i will have to look up myself.

any disc recorded on the liteon must be "FINALISED" before it will play on other machines.use "disctools" in the liteon menu to tdo this.
