How do I fix error 99 on St. Louis turntable, cd, cassette player model 541.809?

Most of these reading errors are caused by dirt on the lazer lens. You can buy a cleaning disc that should solve the problem. If it doesn't then it might be more serious such as damage to the lens itself, or an electronic fault.

Error-99 shows on screen then turn system off

Error 99 is CD not up to speed. Either the CD is slipping, Defective CD, pickup is unable to read sectors and is either dirty pickup or pickup going bad.

Is it always the same CD you are playing? Is the CD smudged with finger prints or dirty? If not suspect the CD itself. This will require Repair or Replace, as E-99 is a classic malfunction & unit will need to be taken apart, "unless" there is a CD stuck in the Unit.

If you have loaded a Blank Cartridge & clicked Eject & found no extra CD, then you will need to have a Reputable Shop Repair Typically this is the Logic I.C. & / or the Servo Motor. Sometimes you can find the same Unit on E-Bay, Craigs List, etc for less than Repair

Changer Error Codes:
E-00: Poor Cable connection.
E-01: Magazine not properly set in changer.
E-02: No Disc in magazine.
E-03: CD does not have selected track number.
E-04: Disc is dirty, upside down or unreadable.
E-10: No data is recorded on the MD. The player plays the next disc automatically.
E-99: Changer malfunction, disc may be caught in machine or changer requires service.

Hope this helps. Your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using Fixya, and have a nice day.

What is the error code # 99 for the CD player in a 2,000 Chrysler Town & Country mini-van? Thanx! =) charles

Error 99 is CD not up to speed. Either the CD is slipping, Defective CD, pickup is unable to read sectors and is either dirty pickup or pickup going bad. If it's under warranty, call it in. Most likely being 11 years old it's out of warranty. You may very well need to purchase a new one from the parts yard or online and install it.

Can't eject cd magazine - E-99 error message

I had the same problem. I opened up the unit and found out that there is a plastic gear that moves the loader. When worn the loader can not load tha magazines nor change cd's. I replaced the gear and the cd autochanger worked fine.

Kenya.
