Hoover D73 Dishwasher water comes comes and goes, no washing

Hi,
I just bought a used dishwasher (1 yr old) that was supposed to be working (but they haven't used it for a few months). When I start a program, water comes in and fills the bottom of the dishwasher, then it just sits there (there is a humming noise) but there is no washing and then at the end of the program it pumps out the water. Could anyone please help me. Thanks
Georg

    Hi,
I turned the dishwasher over and moved the pipes on the bottom around a little bit and after that it worked.

It sounds like the main pump is stuck.
Try lifting the dishwasher (or tip it on it's side) and locate the main pump. It's the large one that has a white rotating disk attached to it for ventilation. Rotate this disk a few times with your finger and give it a try. You can also check that all the cables are attached correctly to the pump and capacitor (white cylinder near the pump)

This is a problem with the timer programme at the end this can be replaced but can be tricky to do your self the water should drain freely out of dishwasher if you feel confident enough taking the back off try finding the drain pipe because uselly these get blocked with either the food off the plates and it can get blocked with limescale if it hasnt been used for a while then the mess has buitl up and set hard if you can get the drain pipe off try running some bleach through it but make sure you clean all the bleach off before putting it back on otherwise everything will smell of bleach this is the only sollution it does sound like the drain p[ipe is blocked the dishwasher will cut off if the water raises in the bottom it does this as a safety feature to stop your kitchen from flooding it is more than likely a blocked pipe so check this properly and the drain in the bottom of the dishwasher as the water shouldnt just sit their it should be draining all the time but i would say clean all pipes properly before you do anything else hope this is some help......................

if this is the case then it sounds like one of the pipes are blocked if you are confident enough to take the pipes of then run some descaler through them as if you are living in a hard water area then this is the problem it is not a major problem just get some good descaler and run this through as it cuts off when the water raises past a certain level as a safety measure this should solve your problem hope this is some help

How to reset a Kenmore 668.1687582 dishwasher

Yes, depending on the model, and the buttons that your dishwasher has, try the following key sequences:
Heated Dry - Normal - Heated Dry - Normal; or
High Temp - Air Dry - High Temp - Air Dry; or
Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry, Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry; or
High Temp Wash, Heated Dry, High Temp Wash, Heated Dry). You will know that you have entered the diagnostic cycle when all the lights light up for a few seconds.
On some of the newer Whirlpool, Kenmore, KitchenAid dishwashers, you start the diagnostic cycle by rapidly pressing the 3 left-most keys in the following sequence: 1 2 3, 1 2 3, 1 2 3.

I have same problem with my Maytag. Had a repair guy come out and he said it's the 'controller card', not the button touchpanel. The controller card is $127 and not in stock and there's a 'several month wait'. I'm not going to wait, going to buy something used for less than the price of a new controller card. Maytag's quality has really deteriorated in the past few years. They used to have a 5yr warranty on pretty much everything - now it's only 1yr. (and of course, mine failed just a few weeks after the 1 yr time.

I would suggest calling whirlpool to have a tech come out and look at it. Your appliance is still under warranty if it is under 1 yr old. It will cover parts and labor.
