Hp laptop. Pavillion TX1000 with swivel screen. Cannot load fresh copy of windows vista using a store bought copy of vista home premium because the computer will not load from the DVD drive and is displaying the missing boot manger over and over. any ideas.
Go to system bios (using F10 key on the start "Commanly") then press F9 for restore defaults, and insert the Bootable Vista DVD into the drive, it will solve your prob.. otherwise in bios mode make sure that all the drives (HDD & CD/DVD Rom) are properly installed.
good luck

I assume you are running vista because bootmgr.exe is used to run vista
from startup. "bootmgr" is short for boot manager, and without this,
your computer simply doesnt know how to start vista from your hard
drive.
To fix it is quite simple. First of all go into your BIOS menu (usually
press F2 or DEL when prompted when you turn on your pc). Make sure your
cd/dvd drive is set to be your primary boot device. This way you can
run your setup disk in the next step.
Insert your Vista install disk and restart your system. Press any key
when prompted to begin running the dvd. Wait for it to give you a list
of choices. This may take a while as it often stays a blank screen for
some time. Choose "repair", and the setup will auto detect your
operating system. It will also fix your bootmgr.exe at this point. If
it does not, you can go on to the next screen and choose "startup
repair".
reformat the had drive and install a fresh copy of OS from the compact disc....
once the installation is complete, boot up the computer again...
if it works, then every thing is perfect....you can go ahead and install the drivers for your devices in the compter...
please clarify if you have any further troubles in installing the OS in your computer...
It really does sound like a hardware problem, perhaps a motherboard/processor/memory issue. If there is no beeping but just humming that is just the fan and drives kicking up.
I would recommend you take it into a repair shop and have them diagnose the issue.
I got this Hp TX2110us when it came up which i hardly use (bought at Fry's). But one time while using it Before Christmas, it jusy shuts down completely. I tried removing the battery and jusy use the AC adapter (has voltage) but no light at all anywhere. The power slide switch won't do a thing. Please anyone know aboutthis??
