If you havent had your xbox modded in anyway send it off to microsoft and they will fix it for free, but if you want to do it yourself google RROD fix there are heaps of guides and its pretty easy once you get all the bits you need which you will find on ebay.

When i turn the xbox on it says system error. contact xbox customer service. E74

The E74 error indicates there is a hardware malfunction inside the console. If the console is under warrenty you may want to send it in, but they will send you a replacement refurbished console. If you want to try to fix it your self the RROD fix usually fixes the E74 since the RROD usually follows the E74. Check out this video. I hope this helps,

How to fix e 74 error

This error has the same solutions as the RROD. MS covers consoles for 3 years with this error, I suggest checking to see if you can get a warranty repair first. If that is not an option you can look up a tutorial on the RROD fix and do it yourself, or have a professional do the repair. Contact me at [email protected] if you would like to discuss having me repair your Xbox.

Hi my xbox360 wont turn on i tried to fix the e74 error when i turn it on to overheat it just shut down please help asap.

In regards to the E74 error unlike the normal RROD the E74 error normally means that the GPU is already damaged. So with the systems that are brought to me with this issue I usually recommend the customer send the system in if it is covered under the 3 year warranty because if the GPU is damaged then it can not be fixed with the DIY kits. I myself have only had one system that had the E74 error not come back after running a fix on it. So at this point you may need to replace the motherboard.

Note there is some walk throughs on the Internet where people have used heat guns to reflow the soder on the RROD fixes. I have not tried these my self as I do not have a heat gun to test with. You may try them but if the GPU is endeed damaged then this will not work.

Hope this helps

My system says E 73 how can i fix this problem

The E73 is a generic hardware error, not a specific problem like the three red rings (RRoD) are.

You can attempt the same fixes as the RRoD, such as taking the unit apart and resoldering connectors and the like.

This website will point you in the right direction. I do suggest that you read up thoroughly on this site, as it has great information, but I strongly disagree with the conclusion that it is related to the ethernet port. I wouldn't go poking around there.

The solutions should be similar, however.

3 red lights and green in the middle. have already tried the towel around it and that did'nt work.

what you have is commonly known as the RROD, or Red Ring Of Death. what this normally means is that your xbox 360's GPU, or Graphics Processing Unit, has over heated to the extent that it has warped the motherboard and desoldered it's self from the motherboard.

Here's a few tutorials on how to fix this. Keep in mind though, always send it in if you still have warranty. that's the best way to make sure that's it's done right.

3 red lights flas when power is turned on

You have what is known as the xbox Red Ring Of Death aka... RROD.

If you are the original purchaser - Microsoft is fixing them for free (but you will be without your XBox for about 6 weeks.)

Basically - the RROD is from not enough thermal compound between the heatsink and processor. It overheats and goes into 3 light error mode.

There are sites that will fix (for a fee) and even videos on YouTube that describe how to fix it yourself if you are inclined to do that.

It entails opening up (and voiding your warranty) the 360. There are so many hidden screws and latches - it is imperative to find a video or step-by step instruction on opening it properly.

I would suggest sending in to Microsoft so your warranty is not compromised.

Otherwise - see THIS SITE for step by step instructions on opening, cleaning, and replacing the thermal compound.

Other places can be found simply by googling "RROD FIX" or try YouTube and look at some "RROD FIX" videos.

C-0230 Error

Error C0230 is a paper separator corona leak detected. Try cleaning the corona wires. If that doesn't do it, you'll probably have to change PWB-A or HV2
