Better to buy a new hard drive. IDE drives nowadays are mostly found on surviving old pc's. They are slow and usually of low capacity. I feel that any money spent would be better directed at replacing the hard drive.

Good day sir how do i connect a 500gig sata drive to a mother board ms 7142

Dear User, Good day, This is the specification of your motherboard. MSI K8MM-V Via Socket 754 MicroATX Motherboard / Audio / 8x AGP / 10/100 Ethernet LAN / USB 2.0 / Serial ATA. All you need is sata cables and an adapter if the power supply cable support only serial IDE. check this link for the photo of the adapter. http://www.buy.com/prod/ide-to-serial-ata-sata-for-3-5-hdd-pc-adapter-converter/q/sellerid/23962916/loc/101/214950013.html

Hi, I am trying to work out what kind of connector I need for my old HHD's (I have 2) I am thinking of buying an outside casing so that I can transfer my old data from these two drives to my current HDD,...

Hi. Thanks for your question.
Your Hard drives connection type is IDE. You can but adapter for your hard drives to connect them via USB port to your current machine. This is link to one of adapters like this on ebay so you can have a look at what I mean http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-2-0-IDE-SATA-S-ATA-2-5-3-5-5-25-Adapter-Cable-/280501660830?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item414f33ac9e#ht_3091wt_1139
Buying adapter like this would mean that you could still use your drives and keep files on them. Use them as external drives. Only connect when you need them. I hope this helped you. Please do not hesitate to ask more questions if this is needed.

8 days ago I purchased Intel dg45id mobo/core2duo proc/2-ddr2 4gb mem & 600w pwr. I then had to get an adapter for monitor(vga to DV1-1) & a IDE controller PCI card to use my CD & DVD burners....

I'm sorry but I would give up. You could buy a SATA to IDE converter, SATA disks, or use USB to IDE. You could buy PCI express cards for the display or IDE or buy a monitor with HDMI input. All these options are going to cost more than the motherboard. If you want to keep it bite the bullet and buy a monitor with HDMI (hp do some reasonable ones) and at some point then replace your discs with SATA

No data getting through serial adapter

We're an EPSON repair center and I can tell you that typically the UB-S01 is the culprit. For the low cost of the part it would be much more expensive and time consuming to fix it. We throw them in the trash can. If you want to avoid the damage from power on the card look at buying an APC PNET1. It protects CAT5 cables. Most EPSON UB-S01 adapaters are connected to a 25 pin to RJ45 adapter. The data is then sent through the CAT5 and converted back at the source end to RS232 DB9. If you place a PNET1 inline with the adapaters it should stop any future spikes on the card. Good luck.
