I have a Sony Bravia XBR 46". It is 18 months old. The left 20% of the picture is fine, but the right 80% flickers in horizontal bands. Pushing back lightly on the upper right corner of the bezel and pulling forward on the upper left corner of the bezel causes the picture to clear up, until I let go. Anything I can do other than watching the TV from 1' away?

If the line is Horizontal then you deffinantly have a cable issue, replace the cable and that should do it, if it continues the problem could be in the port itself, if using HDMI switch to VGA or composite to test this theory. please keep me posted.

Sounds like a card in the tv is not properly seated or a bad solder.

I will say 80% is the panel, another 20% if you can see the picture on the bands, may defective the time control board.

Its a TAB bond Problem with the LCD. You can take apart the TV and install a rubber Bumper to put pressure on the TAB. TAB bonds always get worse... I dont know how long it will solve the issue... but u can get a little more life out of it.
Rember when working with the TV the voltages can kill!!

sorry to say but your LCD panel is failing, and will have to be replaced sonys panels are expensive

This is usually a convergence problem.. Could you update this with the model number please. That will allow me to give you some specifics about what could be wrong and how to fix it.
