I have a gateway laptop and i am trying to watch movies but it says the dvd decoder isn't installed it is an LG.

Hello,

Install the dvd driver into your computer. You can also try using RadarSync to update the decoder. I think it went outdated that's why it's not working properly. Updating it would fix the issue.

I have purchased the Dell Mini 10 Inspiron Netbook along with the iomega DVD slim drive. i cannot watch DVD movies on my Netbook as the compatible DVD decoder is not there. kindly let me know how I can...

Windows Media Player does not usually ship with a DVD codec.

1) One easy solution would be download the free (and popular) video player from VLC. Software is ready to go (already has the codec you need to run VLC player).

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

I use this and it has been trouble free for me.

2) You might be able to find the codec you want here...

http://www.free-codecs.com/k_lite_codec_pack_download.htm

Probably easiest to download and install the FULL pack.

There is also a forum for Dell Mini 10 users at

I presume you need the decoder so you can watch DVD movies.
You can get a free codec driver from this WEB site - use this link

My computer isn't leting me watch dvds

Give this a try it should help if you goto http://www.codebluehelp.co.cc/downloads.html you should find a codec pack. Download it and install. dvd's and cd's not working due to not having a lot of codecs installed is a common problem. Start with that first see if it helps. If not post and let me know

My computer wont let me watch movies now. it keeps saying something about my dvd decoder wasnt installed.

if you bought the computer new or the DVD drive new , you whould have got a CD with it , most probably with something like WinDVD or something , if you have the specific CD with DVD software on it install it , as it will enable you to watch DVD's using Windows media player etc..

if you bought the computer second hand etc.. and or cant find the cd's a free solution is to download VLC media player (Download here) the only disadvantage about using this free solution is that you will have to play the DVD's through VLC you wont be able to use windows media player etc. to play DVD's as VLC does not require decoder software to play DVD's

otherwise you can purchase software such as WinDVD and this will enable you to play using your media player of choice.

Thanks!

Dvd decoder

YOu need a 3rd pary dvd player software installed, Like power dvd. Power DVD , Win Dvd etx, you should have gotten a copy of a player when you brought your computer, If you didnt or cant find it you can download one, many have trial versions or you can get a free one.

If you get a trial version of Power Dvd it automatically installs a dvd decoder. even if power dvd trial expiers and you cant use it anymore you will still be able to play the dvd's on windows media player cause the decoder will remain there and media player will have axcess to it :)

Unable to watch DVD cd

good luck- nobody gives away a dvd player software for free these days. Usually they come bundled with Nero- or other burning software. You can try bittorrent- but look at the comments- usually you are downloading a virus too. Try a local computer repair shop- they will probably have one they can sell you cheap.
