No power led on the motorola sb4200 modem

Unplugged the power cable from the modem to reset because internet had no connection, when plugging the power back on, there was no power light on and the modem was not responding with any light indications, the electricity is working with other outlets...is the problem could be with the power cable or the modem just died??

You can try doing a "Hard reset" on the modem but it looks like you've tried most combinations. To do the hard reset: - unplug the coax cable from the back of the modem - Push and hold the "reset" button in for 15 seconds - Allow the modem 30 seconds to reinitialize and then plug the coax cable back in. Within 10minutes you should have activity back. If not, the modem needs to be replaced. I know you may have tried something similar to this but I'm hoping this may help.

SOURCE: sb4200 modem not working

The only time you need software for a Motorola SB4200 is if you are using USB. If you use ethernet then it is simply plug and play, no drivers required.

The USB Drivers are here.

Good Luck.

Hope this helps.

I have a motorola sb4200 cable modem that was working just fine until 3 days ago the power light is steady and the send and receive lights alternative in blinking and being steady none of the other lights...

Thank you for the detailed information. Not having internet can be frustrating! If the "Online" light is not turning on, that means it is not obtaining an IP address from your internet service provider. Since the "send" and "receive" lights are blinking, this means the coaxial cable (Tv cable) is screwed in.

I would suggest finding a phone number for your internet service provider to assist you further. There may be a service outage in your general area, or there may be a localize issue. They may have to go through troubleshooting with you over the phone, so you may have to unplug the modem, and maybe even bypass the Netgear router to troubleshoot with them. If the issue cannot be resolved over the phone, they may need to send out a repair man to resolve your issue.

Internet has stopped working.

Check that the "block Internet activity" button on the top of the router is in "active" mode, not in "standby" mode.

Unplug the AC power from the modem -- that will reset it.

Contact your ISP -- they can remotely & electrnically access the cable-modem, and will trouble-shoot, and, if necessary, will replace the modem, for free.

Password,Username, and SSID

The SB4200 Modem according to the Motorola website does NOT have wireless capabilities. In fact not a lot of cable modems do have wireless built in to them.

http://broadband.motorola.com/consumers/products/sb4200/default.asp

That is the modem to which you refered and it does not have wireless. In order to connect your Wii wirelessly you would need to purchase a WIRELESS ROUTER, which most major stores carry varios brands such as Linksys or Netgear.

Motorola SB4200 Modem IP not working

You can always do the 30-30-30 reset as follows:
  1. When router is powered on, press the reset button and hold for 30 seconds. (Use a paper clip or something sharp)
  2. While holding the reset button pressed, unplug the power of the router and hold the reset button for 30 seconds
  3. While still holding the reset button down, turn on the power to the unit again and hold for another 30 seconds.
This should allow for a full reset of the modem. Once that's done, connect your computer to it with an Ethernet cable to access it's WebUI using the Default Gateway (192.168.100.1), or connect to the WIFI using the default SSID and Password that are usually written on the modem itself.

I hope this works!
