Replacing spool holder

If you search online for:

Make + Model + "replacement parts"

you may find a replacement. Otherwise, you can usually manufacture a spool holder using a drinking straw, wooden skewer, or something similar. There are also standalone spool holders for sale at various web sites. The spool holder doesn't necessarily have to be attached to your machine but can set behind or to the side of it. Some sewists throw the thread spool in a big coffee cup and just let it bounce around in there.

When the needle is not pulling the bottom tread

is this the first time you use a sewing machine? if you are very familiar with the way the thread is pulled out of the bottom spool, I'd say you need a technician, here is how to install bottom spool in case you don't know. after filling spool, pull thread out through the small gap on the side of the spool holder, then holding the small arm on the holder outward insert the spool holder in to the socket and release after fully inserted. after that the thread should come out the top by manually turning the machine to lower needle

How do i use large spool on janome memory craft 4000

It sounds like the holder is placed too far away from your machine therefore putting too much strain on it and therefore tipping it over. If this dosn;t work you can actually get a holder that attaches to the top of the sewing machine and hangs on the carry handle.

Why does my Gutterman thread keep breaking on my 6600? I was told this was a good thread to use a Janome dealer?

Have you got the thread aerial up and using the thread cap on top of the spool of thread to ensure it feeds off smoothly. Also need to look at the thread spool, some of them have a little cut in the top where the thread end is placed to keep neat. If the thread is catching on this, just turn the spool up the other way and use the cap to hold thread away from the edge of the spool.

Gutterman is a good quality thread so you need to check that there isn't something in the thread path catching the thread and affecting the tension which is why it usually breaks. It could be a burr on the bobbin holder, the black plastic tensioning device which sits on a magnet. I have managed to damage 3 of these with my 6600P by trying to stitch too heavy weight seams, the bobbin holder moves and then the needle strikes it, once to the point of piercing right through it!

So have a look in the bobbin area, refer to your manual if you haven't removed the bobbin holder before. There is two little red marks that need to line up when it is in the right location. If you can see damage on the bobbin holder, you could take it out and try to file down the burring with a nail file or very fine grade sandpaper and then put back in again. The needle thread could be catching on a burr as it comes around during the stitch process.

Also, look at the top tension dial, turn it to zero and clean between the discs with the selvage edge of a clean piece of cotton waste. Then turn tension back to 5 and thread up everything and try again.

If you have tried all the above without success then perhaps take it back to the dealer and ask them to test sew it for you and see if they can spot the problem.

My LS2125i will sew a straight stitch but when I turn it to a zigzag stitch it takes a couple of stitches, then all of a sudden the top thread on the spool holder goes... whirl and winds the thread around...

sounds like your thread is getting caught in the thread spool's thread keeper notch. Make sure you use the spool holder disk with the closest size to the spool of thread to help prevent that. This is pretty common with old fashioned spools like coats and clark spools.

My brother suggests that i make sure the spool unwinds in a certain direction. You might check your manual to be certain the thread is unwinding the correct way.

Good luck.

Where does the spool of thread go on a Janome sewing machine model 415

look for a plastic thread holder about the size and shape of a match stick with a base. It goes on the top of the machine. You see where it is if you google images for your machine

I can't find where to insert the extra spindle for the upright thread spools it is not in my manual.

Hi, look to the right of the spindle holder that lays across the machine, you'll find a little square hole and that is the spot.
