Compaq presario m2000 imediately shuts down after

This is similar to what happened to me, but mine restarted right after boot.

First, are you on a/c power, or battery? If on battery, check the power status.

Second, there might be a problem with your hard drive. Based on your type (SATA, etc) replace it or send it in (if your product is still in warranty).

Check for blocked air passages - vacuum out the fan ports. (Don't use canned air - you'll just blow the dust inside, where it will act as an insulator and help things overheat.)
