DVD player will not read disc

DVD surround sound player makes screeching and squealing noises while searching for disc. Seems as though it starts and stops, speeds up and slows down etc until it finally gives up and says no disc. It does this on all discs. I have tried disc cleaning disc but it doesn't help or it simply can't find it either.

Ouch! Sounds like the optical read head is miscalibrated and the player has issues finding the index track on the disc to load It correctly. Not sure about the squealing / screeching .. that could be a mechanical problem but the speed up and slow down are part of the read/ loading process

It sounds like its not reading the disc, most the time that is caused by a bad processor and that isn't something you can fix yourself

SOURCE: will not read disc & lots of motor noise

Your problem is a common one. The spindle motor is going bad or is bad, and/or you need to clean the laser lens. The only way to fix this would be to take out the unit and hook it up to a test harness. If you do not have a test harness you will need to seek out an authorized repair depot to do this for you. good Luck Ps Please dont forget to rate this thread.

SOURCE: AVIC-N1 "disc read error"

The laser eye need to be re-align or clean up. If you are technical incline, then open it up and clean the laser eye and turn the mounting allen wrench nuts up a bit. If not have someone who knows do it. 'Cause there are alot of things can pop out of place when you opened it. Goodluck.

SOURCE: CD Payer PD-M426. When cartridge

Hi Peter,
First thing to ask you to check is that the discs have been inserted into the cartridge the correct way... that is writing facing down. Check that first and let me know how you get on. Happy to work through it with you.

Crysler sebring jx 1996 makes grinding noise

Grinding or screeching? screeching is the belt. Even though you changed it something is wrong. try belt dressing. If that works and you put a new belt on, then the tensioner pulley may be bad. Not a big deal to change but it's function is to keep the belt tight so it doesn't squeal.

"no disc" error message

Did this problem just start? It may be due to the lens no longer reading the disc. Try a lens cleaner. If your lens went south, it usually is paired with a clicking noise or/and the combination of a no disc/disc error message. I would also recommend staying away from Polaroid dvd players and tv's in the future. They have a habit of not making parts available, especially after the warranty.

DVD player and receiver will not play a dvd in surround sound ?

The dvd player is responsible for reading the surround sound track, and sending it to the receiver. First make sure you are playing the surround sound track on the dvd, many have a stereo track too. Next, try another dvd and see if you can play surround sound on that one. If you can't play surround on ANY dvd I would start looking at the audio connection from dvd to receiver. Are you using an optical cable? Red, white, and yellow RCA cables? Optical will transmit any sound over only one cable, RCA cables need one cable for each channel (LF, C, RF, LR, RR, sub.) If your connections are correct, is the receiver set to play a surround sound track? Is it set in 2 channel mode?
