check the method that you used to install the bushes
could be that you missed a spacer block in a bushing and now the nut to assemble is tightening up to far and jamming the system
For a 2004 Softail - you never gave a model year.
1. Place rear fork (3) in the frame so that
the bores in the frame align with the bores in the fork.
Insert the bushings (10) into the spherical bearings (7)
from the inside.
2. Install pivot shaft.
a. Apply LOCTITE ANTI-SEIZE to pivot shaft (4).
b. From the right side, install pivot shaft and spacers
with spacer collars facing transmission case.
c. Apply LOCTITE THREADLOCKER 262 (red) to
threads of pivot shaft nut. Install and tighten pivot
shaft nut to 90-110 ft-lbs (122-149.1 Nm).
NOTE
Proper pivot shaft tightening is important to maintain rear fork
alignment.
3. Check for freedom of rotation of the rear fork around the
bearings and that the fork and frame side members have
not been distorted when the pivot shaft nut was tightened.
4. Install the canister (California models),
fender extension (2), brake caliper and rear wheel.
5. Install both rear shock absorbers (9) using bolts and
washers (8).
yes you do, the first part is the bearing race, it goes on 1st tighten it til it is snug (no play) and not too tight, the next 3 pieces are just spacers they go on next, then the last piece is the lock nut tighten it by hand until its snug then you need to hold the race with a wrench and tighten the lock nut (with another wrench) to lock it in place and you are all set to continue reassembling the handle bars... good luck
To change a wheel on
your roller skate please do the following:
Unscrew
and remove the axle bolts from the front wheel with an Allen wrench. Pull the
front wheel out of the wheel frame. Remove the bearings and spacer from the
wheel. All components should slip out together. Place the spacer and bearings
into the new wheel. Place the new wheel on the wheel frame. Replace the axle
and tighten it using the Allen wrench. If your spacer is aluminum, tighten the
axle as far as it will go. If your spacer is plastic, tighten the axle almost
as far as it will go, then loosen it slightly. Spin the wheel to see how easily
it rolls. If it doesn't spin freely, loosen the axle. If the wheel wobbles,
tighten the axle. Repeat the previous steps for the remaining wheels.
I took the fenders off to give a little more space for the wheels to move. Don't tighten the nut and washer right up against the black plastic spacer on the rim. Schwinn should be sending out locking spacers or nuts to fix the problem, but I don't see that happening.
Disconnect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an air bag,
properly disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), as detailed in Chassis
Electrical .
Elevate and safely support the front of the car.
Remove the wheel.
Loosen the nut at the rear of the radius rod. Remove the nut, washers,
bushing, etc. Keep them in the correct order for reinstallation.
Remove the bolts securing the rod to the control arm. Remove the
rod.
To install:
Inspect the bushings carefully for wear or deformation. Replace them
if any damage is found.
Fit the rod into place and install the bolts at the control arm.
Tighten the bolts to 40 ft. lbs. (55 Nm) on Accords through 1989 and Preludes
through 1991. On 1990-95 Accords and 1992-95 Preludes, tighten the bolts to 76
ft. lbs. (105 Nm).
Install the bushings, washers and spacers on the rod. Install a new
locking nut. On all except 1992-95 Preludes, tighten the end nut to 33 ft. lbs.
(44 Nm). On 1992-95 Preludes, tighten the nut to 40 ft. lbs. (55 Nm).
Install the wheels and lower the vehicle.
Properly enable the SRS system, if equipped, and connect the negative
battery cable.
need special socket from parts store remove allen bolts from front alex, loose first axle nut. with neddle nose pliers pull out tab ring .then loosen second ring bearing will be next might have to wiggle wheel to get bearing to slid out. replace bearing snug first lock-nut against bearing keep track of lock nut with *** on it that one is first then {DON'T OVER TIGHTEN} then put ring with holes on next nake sure *** is in a hole, then tighten last lock ring watch how you take hub off make sure hubs are not locked in. after you are done with vech.in air lock hubs ane rotate tire to make sure front axel {drive shaft} turns . I use super blue wheel bearing. grease I pack my bearings every two years
front axle installation: looking at the front of the bike:
slide the wheel into position and insert the axle from the left. with axle now through the right hand fork, install nut and tighten the left fork pinch bolts to secure the axle for tightening the nut. tighten the nut to 29.5 ftlbs. and loosen the left pinch bolts. now tighten the right pinch bolts and compress the front suspension while the left (from front) is still loose. now allow suspension to rest naturally and tighten all 4 pinch bolts to 11 ftlbs. your done.......the axle is tighten against the rotor side and the other fork is then tighten in it's natural position so as not to cause premature seal and bushing failure and increasing stiction.
