Orange light blinking

The orange light on my printer is blinking 15 times. When I go to print a black and white print, it tells me that the magenta cartridge is empty. It's a brand new cartridge. The printer will not let me print, anything.

My problem is one of the ink tanks (magenta) is clicking in place and it's lamp is turning on BUT when I put the lid down and the tank tray goes back into place the ink tank lamp turns off so I can't print. When I open the lid to check the the inks again the magenta has somehow turned it's lamp off yet I can un-click it, then click it back in and it turns it's lamp back on. This vicious cycle goes on and on what can I do?

MY PROBLEM IS THAT THE AMBER LIGHT BLINKS 15 TIMES AND

WHEN I CHECK THE 8BK CARTRIDGE`S LIGHT IS OUT, NO MATTER

HOW MANY TIMES I REPLACE THIS CARTRIDGE, WHEN I TRY TO PRINT THE AMBER LIGHT STARTA ITS 15 BLINK CYCLE AGAIN.

I am not daft, but, this has really got to me. I just cannot get my canon IP4300 to recognise the cartridges. I have taken them all out and cleaned the chips and put them in one at a time. The tanks are reconised as in but as soon as I finish and close the lid for the last time that flashing orange light comes on again. The last time I had problems I ended up buying the proper canon ones, but, can't afford to to that again. I am beginning to hate this printer it has cost me so much in wasted ink catridges.

    Help!

The solution above does not work. It only lights up when you remove the ink tank completely and re-click it down. But the moment you close the lid the head slides to the side and that is when something bad happens and the ink tank is no longer lit up. I can push very hard on the PUSH and it does not light up again. I am about to return my printer as well for the same exact problem. Unfortunately, I mail ordered mine so I guess I'm out the shipping and handling charges.

I gave up and returned it to the place I bought it and got a new one. I think that the computer chip in the front was scratched or damaged. One thing I did learn was to save the packaging until I was sure it worked.

Solution: Confirm the ink tank(s) are properly installed iP4300

Ensure that the ink tank is installed properly. Open the Top Cover, Paper Output Tray and Inner Cover, and then press on the 'PUSH' mark on the ink tank whose lamp is off until the ink tank clicks into place. Once the ink tank is installed properly its lamp will light red.
Ensure that all the orange tape has been peeled off as shown in (1). If a part of the orange tape remains as shown in (2), remove it completely.

(1) Correct (An L-shaped notch* appears on the ink tank.)

(2) Incorrect (Orange tape remains. Peel off the tape along the perforation.)

Hey guys, I finally brought my ip4500, not ip4300 1month ago, and am having the same problem. I experimented with the printer inks. And finally i have fixed this problem. I suspect it may work for ip4300, or other similar pixmas as well. Please follow at your own risk.

Scenario:
The printer error led flashes 15 times. And, The ink tank lights are flashing endlessly, or does not light up at all. If the ink light is off, it does not mean that the chip is corrupt.... Do not replace it, like i have. lol.

Problem: one or more of the inktank chips are corrupt. If at least one cartridge is corrupt, the printer will not work. Must purchase corrupted ink cartridge, or call canon for replacement.

Solution: Instead of buying a complete set of ink, find out which ink cartridge is corrupt, and needs replacing:

1.put all ink tank into the printer without the chip. close printer cover. computer should alert that "the following ink tank cannot be recognised. Printing cannot be executed because the ink tank...." You should see a picture of the ink in the alert box.
The picture in the warning box shows that the black, black. yellow, magenta, cyan are not inserted.

2.Starting with the blue ink, remove blue ink from the printer, reinsert chip into ink tank, then put the ink tank back into the printer. Close Printer cover. Notice that this time, if the ink chip isn't faulty, computer alerts that only black, black, yellow, magenta are not inserted into your printer.
If it is faulty, then you see another alert box, about unrecognized ink - if so go to step 4.

To test if the chips on the other ink cartridges(tanks) are faulty:

3. Repeat step 2, with the rest of the ink tanks. from right to left(blue, magenta, yellow, pgiblack, black)
4. Purchase corrupt ink tank. or call Canon for a replacement.

lemme know if this helps you.

Also, For me, the main problem was the PGI BK ink cartridge, that continously flashed. After replacing it with an original pgibk cartridge, printer is working normally. Even though the blue cartridge's light was off, it is still working.

ORANGE LIGHT IS BLINKING AND PRINTER WILL NOT PRINT

The Amber light is designated as the "Ink Error" light. With regards to a Hewlett Packard printer, the Amber light is indicating that one of the Ink Cartridges (Tri-Color/Black) is empty, defective, unrecognizable, or just simply needs to be changed. The procedure is; lift up the front cover, look at the Black Ink Cartridge, and examine the Ink Level Window on the Cartridge, located at the center of the Cartridge. If the square window appears to be a solid Green then that means the cartridge is completely full. If it is Half Green/Half Black then it is indicating that the cartridge is half way full, and if the square window is completely Black, then the cartridge is completely empty. Also, remove and examine the Tri-Color Cartridge. If the Tri-Color Cartridge feels very light or if the Tri Colors on the bottom of the Cartridge appear to be discolored i.e. All Magenta, All Cyan, or All Yellow, then the Cartridge should immediately be changed. After replacing the Black or Tri-Color Cartridge, your printers Green Power Light will flash and allow you to continue your print job
You can also try:
Clean the cartridge and carriage contacts with a cotton swab moistened with water. If you have refilled the cartridges don't assume that they will still work. If cleaning doesn't help you may have a failed cartridge even if it is not refilled.
If you are getting a grinding noise, clean the carriage rod with alcohol and lubricate it with a few drops of Tri-Flow, available in 2 oz. squeeze bottles at cycle shops.

My printer is not printing. it will run the paper

I see you don't have much knowledge about printers. It always helps to know something about your printer. It seem you have a color printer. Usually a color printer has two cartridges. Black cartridge and color cartridge. The color cartridge usually contains three colors; cyan, yellow and magenta. If the black cartridge is empty, you won't see black text in the printed paper. Print a small photo and see. If it has all the colors, but looks dull (without proper black color), that means only the black cartridge is empty. If it is greenish, the magenta ink is missing. Generally orange colored printouts suggest cyan is missing. Likewise, purple color means the yellow ink is missing. If you installed the printer properly using the CD from the printer manufacturer, you will be notified when the cartridge is empty or close to run out of ink. But if Windows automatically installed your printer, then the system won't give such information. From the information you have supplied, I believe your blck cartridge is empty or missing. Oh, I almost forgot to say, some manufactures sell some printers (for example some Canon Pixma models) with only the color cartridge. Switch on the printer and open the printer cover. The cartridges will move to the middle. You can check whether the black cartridge is missing. Do not hesitate to contact us for further help.

Can I print "Black only on the Epson BX 300 F ?

Since the printer insists on having all 4 cartridges (non-empty) fitted before it will print anything, the only recourse to fitting new cartridges is to fool the printer into thinking your empty magenta cartridge has ink in it. You can do this by using a cartridge resetting tool to reset the magenta cartridge chip so it reads "full". A resetter tool can be obtained from e-bay very cheaply (£4 or less). You will find sellers who ship worldwide on E-Bay UK.

Be aware though, that if you forget to select monochrome printing, the colour ink is also used in black printing - and printing with a "dry" cartridge can damage the print head. You can guard against this by filling your magenta cartridge with distilled water.

You will also find sellers of magenta cartridges (and the others of course) on E-Bay UK who ship worldwide.

Empty ink cartridge message

I replaced the old cartridge with a new one (Magenta) and it still asks me to replace it with a new cartridge.
For 1 colour which is LOW, it stopped me completely from PRINTING or COPYING at all.
Any clues how to fix this?

Your Black cartridge is empty.

From the user guide:

Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow Supplies Status lights
These lights indicate when a print cartridge is low (the light is on), or empty or missing (the
light blinks). The lights also indicate when a non-HP print cartridge is installed (the light
blinks and the Attention light is on).
