Muratec mfx 1600 drum replaced alarm will not reset

I have replaced both the toner and the drum but the 'replace drum' and alarm light still show and will not reset. The machine is unuseable for copy print fax etc. How can I manually reset.

Ignoring the Toner Empty Message
When the toner cartridge is empty, the machine shows a “Toner Empty”
message and stops printing.
You can set the machine to ignore the message when it displays and to
continue printing the pages.
1 Press Menu until “Machine Setup” appears on the display.
2 Press the scroll button ( or ) until “Ignore Toner” appears on the
bottom line and press Enter.
3 Press the Scroll button ( or ) to select “On” or “Off.”
Select “On” to ignore the Toner Empty message.
Select “Off” to stop printing when the message appears. This is the
default setting.
4 Press Enter to save the selection.

As far as I know there is no "manual" way of resetting this. The new drum has a small glass fuse which should blow when it is placed in a machine for the first time. It is the machine "seeing" this fuse blow that resets the message.

Are you using a "new" drum or one that has been in another machine?

You can try to fit a new fuse to the drum.

If it was in front of me I could show you in seconds, but I've not seen one for a few years.

If you open the machine (looking from front) so the drum is kinda sideways on, I think it will be on the rear side towards the bottom. If it is not clearly visable (it is on some models), you may have to remove a plastic cover (one or two screws) to access it.

Sorry I can't be more specific...if I had one in front of me I could tell you exactly.

If you purchased from ebay, was it sealed and boxed correctly in original packaging? If not, then i'm virtually 100% that it has been in another machine and the fuse has popped.

I replaced the drum in the fax machine and it still say i have only 14 copys left, how do i reset that? I have muratec fax MFX 1700

You are not supposed to replace the drum until it says"replace drum"
Not when it is saying "replace drum soon."...you have prematurely blown fuse in the cartridge so now it will not reset.
Try the following...
Press...PROGRAM,*,*,I(That is Capital I), then ENTER.(SHOULD RESET IT.)

Reset drum counter on a muratec mfx 1430

Drum counter is reset by installation of a "NEW" drum.
There is a small fuse at the rear of the drum on the top( you will see the 2 brass contacts) When a new drum is installed, the fuse blows and resets the drum counter. Installing a used drum will not reset the counter as the fuse is already blown.

Muratec 2830 drum cartridge problem.

The drum cartridge is different from the toner cartridge. The drum has reached its life cycle and must be replaced. This is normal for any copier of that class.
The drum is not too expensive and not difficult to replace.

Hope this helps!

Muratec MFX- 1430 Printer

first of all, you can change the toner cartridge at any time. the roller below is probably the transfer roller, which can be cleaned. you may also want to consider that the drum cartridge could be the culprit.

since this is a multi function machine, make sure that the lines are not showing up when you print, or receive a fax. if the lines ONLY show when you copy, then clean the small **** glass under the document feeder, that should be the source.

How do I reset the drum counter on a Muratec F320?

Ok, this is how I resolved it for my fax machine.
I powered down the fax, removed the new drum and reseated it.
When I powered it back on the counter reset itself as it is supposed to.
