Hi Mark, my friend has one of these machines and we had troubles like that, in the end i found out the "out of balance switch" was a little sticky. You find the switch by opening the back panel and it is lockated on the right side in the top corner. I flicked the switch a few times to hear the klick-klack, and that was it. Turned it on and it worked perfectly. Maybe it helps, good luck. Hebie
Your DVD loader (DVD player) has some kind of malfunction. (dirty lens, bad build, etc...) Just stick a new PC IDE DVD player in it and it will start working. I had the same problem. I used a lite on made in 2004 and the RH1888 works prefect, but does not look perfect. The drive is won't work in conjunction with a it's original face panel. I blue tacked the display on the top of the chassis, and got the big ol' lite-on drive sticking out front, but it works perfectly. Good Luck! -Pro Hack
