I DON'T KNOW. I RECENTLY FIXED A SIMILAR WASHER PROBLEM. THE SAFETY PLASTIC POINTER ON LID NO LONGER REACHED THE SAFETY CUT OFF SWITHCH UNDER A HOLE IN THE WASHERS TOP.
I TOOK TOP OFF WASHER, TESTED SWITCH WITH METER. IT WAS OK. I RAISED THE SWITCH WITH A RIBBON OF COATED METAL. WORKS LIKE NEW.

On this style washer the motor has a belt and pully type clutch under the machine called a splutch. There has been an ongoing problem with the nut coming loose and dropping the belt/pully down which in turn hits the safety shield.
The cabrio has a shaft that runs between the wash plate and the rotor located under the washer. The usual cause for noise during spin is something that has made it's way between the spin basket and tub. But it's best to try and determine if the noise is from under the washer or inside the washer, that way you aren't randomly taking things apart. See if you can pin point the location of the noise.
My Whirlpool WTW6600 had the same problem. The tub no longer floated up and down on the center shaft, so it only spun, not agitated. You must remove the tub (with some effort) and lightly sand / clean the center shaft. Lube it lightly with wheel bearing grease so that after it is reassembled, you can pull the tub upward and feel about 1/2" movement. This will enable the proper gear assembly to engage. It can spin when it rests at the bottom of its travel, but once you fill the tub, it floats, moving upward, and engaging the agitation gear. Good Luck!
Hi To get to the lid lock you must raise the cover To raise the top you unscrew the top screws in the back, ( the ones that hold the smaller galvanized piece of sheet metal behind the control panel). There is also two clips on the sides of the back with 2 screws in each, remove the top ones. You should be able to slide the cover forward while lifting. It will hinge on the 2 clips. Then prop the cover to keep it open. Under the cover are 2 screws that hold on the latch. Under the cover towards the back there are 2 spring clips that hold down the top user control panel. Squeeze them to release the panel. Follow the wire from the latch to the motor control module and unplug the plug. Remove the latch. Reverse to reinstall a new one. Robert
Unplug the unit. Pull it forward and tilt it back about 45 degrees. Use a 6mm allen wrench to remove the botom center screw in the white "wheel" . Remove the "wheel". Remove the 4 5/16 screws that hold the coils in . Unplug the 3 pin connector and clean the male side pins. Reassemble in reverse.
