Lint, and debris not going to filter

The lint, hair, grass clippings etc do not go to the filter they stay in the tub or rubber ring. Have to wipe out tub after every wash. And the last front load I had the water came 1/4 of the way up the window, I never see water during the wash or rinse cycle but everything is wet when I take it out.

Generally speaking grass clipping etc will stay in tub on a hi efficiency washer. That's why the water level is very low also-high efficiency, low water use. Most LG washers have an extra water button to add a small level of water per wash.

SOURCE: LG WM-3677HW dryer cycle does not dry and lasts for 3 minutes

Press "end of cycle". Plug off the wall. Code can be an indication of several issues. The most common cause is over-sudsing in the machine. Overloading the wash with too much laundry may also cause the LE error code. Lastly, a breakdown in the signal between the microprocessor and the motor may cause that error code. This can occur if there is a loose wire, see that all wires are tightened..........

SOURCE: Fabric Softener & bleach dispensing

The control board program has many sensors built into the unit to determine when to dispense the bleach and the softener.  LG tech documents doesn't list when these liquids are dispensed so there must be a program that matches the current operation and loads of each wash program.  That's the best answer I can give you at this time.

SOURCE: LG front load washer/ clothes still wet after final spin

The heavy jacket prevented the washer from spinning at a rapid pace, so I added a heavy bathrobe to absorb some of the water and to balance the load. The washer then spun very quickly and drained out all the water.

SOURCE: Nasty water accumulation from washing machine

Posted by Jay on Jan 11 2009

I have the same washer now for several years now. I keep getting the smell now and then. After reading all these disappointed people I went down to the machine and cleaned out the "Pump filter". It had been smelling today, I was tired of this problem also. So i opened the little door at the bottom front left corner. There you find a little black hose, pull it out a little and pull the plug. There you drain the water that's laying inside smelling up the house. Now you un-screw the big black cap. Once you remove the cap, you find a plastic filter-catcher. I found paper, a dime, and several other things that came out of my pockets. You can take the basket to the sink and wash it out. Put it back together and try checking it in one month. Also I used some needle nose pliers to clean the nasty stuff around the gasket. At the bottom of gasket try pulling it back to get to the hair and ****. We have a dog, so the hair is bad.

I have alot of particles in the bottom of my washer at the end of the cycle.. if i run another cycle with no clothes they stay in the bottom of the washer..appears to be dirt, leaves..etc

Hello, Suzanne -

So someone, whose clothes are washed in your machine, picks up "crud" on his or her clothes. (My dad used to collect "crud" in his pants cuffs and pants pockets, so my mom would make sure she emptied the pockets and cuffs over a wastebasket before putting his clothes in the washing machine.)

First, make sure pockets, cuffs, and whatever else clothing parts might collect "crud" are emptied over a wastebasket prior to placing in the washing machine.

"Crud" like pet hair or disintegrated facial tissue left in a pocket may still be left over in a washing machine tub after clothes are removed. I use a wet sponge to wipe out the washing machine tub when ever I see left over "crud."

Newer washing machines have lint traps, which are not as easy to access as those on clothes dryers. The washing machine lint trap may need cleaning out.

Why is water is leaking out of the filter located behind the small door at bottom left on front of washer?

that door houses the pump filter, which regularly needs opening and clearing as the pump access gets full of detritus (lint, pins, buttons, hair etc.) the leaking may be due to it getting totally clogged, or possibly the rubber "O" ring that closes the seal needs replacing.

Why does the filter basket never seem to catch anything and it never reads to need to be backwashed...but the water is still not clear....what are we doing wrong?

Because of the size of the filter - 18", I would presume this is an above ground pool?

  • Do you have a skimmer?
    • If so, put some leaves, larger organic debris, etc. into the skimmer. They should end up in the basket of the Hair & Lint Pot!
    • That would prove your question to be either working or not.
  • If you don't have a skimmer, then you have a suction port in your pool.
    • Let that suction port suck some larger debris that would stay in the basket. Again, you will prove or disprove, whether debris is getting to your pump basket (Hair & Lint Pot Basket).
How long has your pump & filter been operating?
How long do you let your pump & filter run per day?
  • It should run at least 8 hrs per day.
  • If cloudy, you should run continuously until clear.
How long has your water been turbid/cloudy?
  • Use a clarifier, Natural preferred, like SeaKlear, daily at recommended dosage, until clear
What is the pressure?
Are you saying that it is the same pressure as Day 1, has not climbed at all?
What do you mean: Does not read that backwash is needed?
What in your understanding is: "Time to backwash the filter"?

You should know the "Starting Pressure" of your Sand Filter!
  • When sand is absolutely clean & free of any grime and sticky residue.
    • Just added media, when just installed is the best time to make a note of the starting pressure on a working pressure gauge.
  • When the pressure rises 8-10 lbs. over starting, time to backwash!

Where is the filter?

Hi,
To find the filter you need to do the following steps. Find your lint trap. Lint traps in washing machines can be in the agitator (the large plastic piece in the center of the tub), at the top of the washer on the rim of the tub, or attached to the washing machine's drainage hose. Pull out the agitator tube to check for the lint trap. Peel any loose lint from the filter. Scrub away lint that doesn't peel off easily with a heavy-duty paper towel or a wet sponge. Feel your way around the top rim of the washing machine's basin. If you locate a trap, pull it straight out of the machine. Peel away loose lint and follow up with a wet sponge or heavy-duty paper towel. Check your machine's drainage hose for an attached lint trap. Remove the trap and peel the top layer of lint off. Rinse the trap in low-pressure, warm water. Reattach to the drainage hose. Check for and remove any lint or debris that may have dropped into the washing machine basin during the cleaning.

Where is the lint catch in a Kenmore 3.1 front loading washer? I'm getting dog hair coated doorway!

Check the rubber bellow (gray seal) around the door, first. Pull back the rubber folds and check the power portion. Hair and lint tend to collect in this area.

Next, check the drain pump reservoir. The link I'm providing below explains how:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385844-checking_drain_pump_kenmore_elite_front

You should also check the drain lines to ensure they are not clogged or restricted as well. The drain line that leads from the bottom of the wash tub to the inlet side of the drain pump can be a common point where debris can become clogged too. If this does not correct the problem, or if you have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

good luck.
There is a trap at the bottom of this machine you can get to it from the bottom.this is a very wet project if you take any hoses off there will be lots of water draining so be prepaired with a large towel or shopvac.check to see if anything other than the 2 white balls are in there, the white balls are sapose to be in there, sometimes a underwire gets in there and collects hair and lint.
