Cameras suitable for the Zenit фото cнаипер (Zenit Fotosnaiper/Zenith Photosniper) are usually very difficult to find as they're specially modified versions of normal Zenit SLR cameras which incorporate a special additinal shutter release button on the baseplate.

Photosniper versions are generally expensive but broken ones can be cheap. Regular Zenit SLR's are very cheap and often free on Yahoo FreeCycle but I've never yet seen a Photosniper version on there.

Ebay is a good place to look but normally they are sold as part of a complete Photosniper kit. If you do see a body only for sale then the Photosniper versions always have a letter "S" at the end of the name, so a Zenit E is a regular model and a Zenit ES has the modification which makes it a Photosniper SLR.

All Zenit SLR cameras are mechanically very simple and most do not have any complex electronics. This is good, because it means that you can buy a cheap broken Photosniper camera and a cheap regular Zenit SLR and swap the baseplate with the additional shutter button to a regular Zenit to convert it for Photosniper use, the modification usually involves drilling a few holes but it's not difficult.

Hope this helps you to find what you need.

I have a zenit old camera im trying to find out if it worth anything

Sorry, but unless it's a complete, boxed, fully functional Zenit Fotosnaiper (Zenith Photosniper) outfit then like almost all similar models it's virtually worthless.

On the plus side it means that you can just enjoy using it, even in locations you'd never dare risk with another camera.

What kind of batteries do i use and where do the batteries go?

Hello David. David you night vision doesn't use any batteries that one installs. You have Kalinka Zenit NV monocular that is Russian manufactured but is sold by Night Vision Optics. Your night vision uses a piezo electric ignitor to charges the batteries and charge a couple capacitors.

The lever on top to the Zenit monocular is activated by squeezing the handle that is covered in a rubber type material. Just keep squeezing on the lever and in while things will start working. Best of Luck David. GB...stewbison

I have a zenit camera do you know who buys them from you it is 12x9 58mm 1.2 m52xo,75 helios 44m-4

If you're asking where you can sell your camera then you'll find there's a steady demand for Zenit models on eBay and Craig's list.

Like most basic 35mm SLR's they don't achieve good sale prices any more, but do better than many other more highly featured models simply because they have little to go wrong to start with and are usually easy to fix. Condition is everything though: if your camera and lenses are in less than near perfect condition then you'll find that your sales and listing fees may well cost more than the items are worth.

What camera does this lense fit

These were made to fit many different cameras and the same lens was often branded as a Tokina in most worldwide markets.

Have a look around the mounting plate, there is normally something printed to indicate which camera it's for. e.g. C, Ca, or Can means Canon; N/Ni/Nik = Nikon, P/K = Pentax, O/OM = Olympus, CY = Contax & Yashica, L = Leica, X = Fujinon X (very rare). If there is a screw thread mounting then it's most likely an M42 mount as used on ancient Pentax models and by former Soviet Bloc makers like Praktika and Zenit.

If any of the above have AF added to the code then it's an aurtofocus version of that mounting.

If all else fails take it to a camera dealer, they should be able to tell you.
