Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn itback on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFEMODE. Take the Safe Mode option and let it boot up. Safe Mode will lookdifferent to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this isnormal.
The
60GB HDD orderable as marketing option part number 08K9688 has a height
of 12.5mm and will not fit in the HDD slot of the systems with the
touch pad installed. For these systems, it is only supported via the
ThinkPad 2nd HDD Adapter for the Ultrabay 2000.
The 60GB HDD orderable as replacement service part number 08K9833 is 9.5mm.
Supports one additional HDD which can be used concurrently to offer expanded storage utilizing the Ultrabay 2000
S.M.A.R.T technology to issue an alert if a hardware failure is pending
ATA Bus Interface
4200 or 5400 rpm
Although
you can upgrade the HDD, it is not designed to be removed and
reinserted on a regular basis. Repeated and frequent removal, for
purposes other than to upgrade for greater capacity, can cause damage
to the system. The Ultrabay 2000 HDD adapter is designed to provide
this flexibility with a second HDD in the Ultrabay 2000 IBM says. I say if the OS recognises it and so does the BIOS, you're good. good luck, hope this helps.-jmattes p.s. I found this info on: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-42218.html
It makes no difference what brand of hard drive you have in the laptop, the original is going to cost you maybe 2 or 3 times or more the price of a generic drive.
Need to know the type from the laptop (4numbers) and also model, they are on the bottom sticker most likely.
it may be happen due to some system file is missing used for boot by system it may be solved by re installed the operating system. by the way below the address u needed....... IBM Service Centre in Bangalore:
Is it IDE or SATA? Put the Hdd in your pc, on IDE, the wide ribbon cable is for data, it can only go in one way, and power is the molex connector. 4 power points, ussualy 4 wires. orange, black, red, black, yellow. can only go in one way. thats it. Make sure that if you are running cd/dvd roms and you have 2 hdd's, that the two hdds run on the same ribbon cable, and the cd roms on their own cable. also put the new hdd to slave. (you change it via jumper settings, ussualy printed on the hdd itself)
SATA is easier. you need two cables. sata power, and data. they can also only go in one way. google sata connectors if you don't know how they look. though, if i is a PIII board, i doubt it'll support SATA, so you'll need to buy an IDE hdd.
With your indulgence may I clear something, you installed a new 60Gb HDD to your Dell Latitude C610? If yes, then you would need to partition, format the new HDD and install an Operating System.
If on the other hand the 60Gb is the original HDD, then it could only mean that the HDD is defective or that its files have been corrupted and likewise would require an re-install of a clean, fresh OS. In some instances, a repair could be done but the same would need the use of a recovery CD or a Windows installer of your choice.
There would be no limit to the capacity that you can install. The only limitation would be the physical dimensions and the way it is electrically connected internally to the laptop.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
