SOURCE: HOOK UP OF ICE MAKER TO THE WATER LINE

At the back bottom of the fridge there will be a coil solenoid. If your appliance is ice make ready this will be there, these coils have a bracket that has fitting for a water connection. Get a 1/4 tube with a ferrell and nut. slide them on the tube and connect to the fitting.

SOURCE: no water to ice maker

  • The water line that's attached to the back of the refrigerator. Make sure you have good water flow. If the flow is poor, repair, clean, or replace the tubing or the shut-off valve that supplies the water.

  • The water-inlet valve. Replace it if it has failed.

SOURCE: Brand new Kenmore refrigerator, ice maker does not work

According to the manufacture, you must wait 24hrs to reap the benefits of the automatic ice maker. I was helping a friend the other day install a water line to a side by side unit that had been running for well over a week and after turning the water on we got no ice. We contacted the manufacture and they said "there is a 24hr waiting period". This makes no sense. I wasn't trying to get a gun permit, just ice.

    SOURCE: Ice maker not working

I recently had trouble with both my water dispenser and my ice maker. I determined that my filter was clogged, so I replaced it. That fixed the water dispenser but the ice maker still wasn't working. I investigated further and found that the water inlet tube was frozen solid. Aparently, when the filter was clogged the water came in so slowly that it froze before it got to the icetray. I tried pouring hot water over the inlet tube to melt it and it mostly worked, but there was still some ice in the tube further back where I couldn't reach. Finally I defrosted the freezer so all the ice could melt and turned it back on and now it works great! Hope this might help.

My LG refrigerator has the ice maker hooked up to the hot water heater, is this right. MY HOT WATER HEATER HAS SLUDGE IN IT THAT IS GOING INTO THE ICE MAKER AND MAKING FOUL SMELLING AND TASTING ICE. ...

Having ice maker hooked up to hot water side is common practice...because the water is heated before it gets to be sent to the ice maker, it would have less air in the ice...kinda like a crude way to distill the water.

The sludge is from mineral deposits in your water...sometimes called hard water.

One of the best investments in areas of hard water is a water softener system, in-line water filters, or a combination of both.

Ya might look to see if there is a filter in the refrigerator to filter water before it gets to the ice maker as well.

    Hope this helps...

Water line hooked up to unit for icemaker but water will not travel up plastic line to the icemaker

Is the freezer cold enough? Should be close to 10 degrees.
Is there water or ice in the ice mold? If not put water in it and see if it dumps the ice after it’s frozen. If there is ice, lift the cut off arm and let it drop to see if it will start.
If it does dump the ice but don’t refill with water.

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.
The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

Once the ice mold has water in it, it may start cycling when it freezes.

If the fill tube is blocked with ice, the water inlet valve is leaking and needs to be replaced.
