Not scanning or copying when using the ADF on HP laserjet 3055

Using Windows XP professional
Printer: HP Laserjet 3055
Printer will scan and copy when using the flatbed. However, when using the ADF (automatic document feeder) the copier will not scan or copy the page(s).
When scanned selected printer is displaying: "Document Feeder Mispick. Reload" and a windows popup says
"The HP imaging device cound not be initialized. An error has occurred communicating with the device. Make sure that the device's power cord and cable are porpertl attached and plugged in. Refer to HP service....."
The windows popup is no help because the scan and copy works when document is just placed on the scanner.
ADF should be slowing down to scan the page however it drives the page through quickly. Is there a sensor in the ADF to detect the leading edge of the paper and if so is it easy to replace?

Thanks
Paul

Based on the assumption it's mechanically ok, check the cable connection between the document feeder and the base, if damaged or worked look it can cause errors. If it is a sensor error, check for a small bit of paper or even a staple from a prior jam.

3055 glass

There is no need to change the mode. When the document is loaded on the document feeder, the screen displays "DOCUMENT LOADED" and shall copy or scan this document. To copy or scan from glass, DO NOT LOAD ANY DOCUMENT IN THE FEEDER. The printer will automatically copy / scan from glass.

HP 3055 All In One laserjet prints all black pages

Odds are that you have a bad toner cartridge; especially common when using remanufactured cartridges. (Staples, Corporate Express, etc.) Replace your cartridge with an OEM HP cartridge and you should be OK.

Unable to scan on HP Laserjet 3055 on Windows XP

Sounds like a software issue - U might try contacting HP but do not hold your breath. If machine is out of warranty they want nothing to do with you and will refer you to some forum or whatever. Or they might tell you to get a new scanner compatible with a newer OS.

HP 3055 printing black lines when using collate feature to copy

All you need to do is to clean the small wide glass (that at the LEFT of the main flat big class). The Auto Document Feeder (ADF) specifically uses this glass to scan for copy (and fax). When it is dirty (such as small dirt or particles on the surface which is easy to gain in long run), it will create thin vertical line(s) as the result.
