Transaxle noise grinding noise

Definitely check out pull a part and LKQ. They are salvage yards w2ith lots of inventory.

it is not the dust shield rubbing against your disk that will make a grinding noise check that nothing to lose

ck and clean off the cooling fan on top of transaxle sometimes grass and leaves get up there and make funny noises also you can ck oil level in transaxle for proper fill level

Failed Transaxle

Get something else,preferably
not a transaxle

check your half-shafts going from the transaxle to the wheel hubs. I suspect that one of them has broken off.

make sure the axle joint didn't fail then on the pass side of the car behind the axle there is a cover that houses the differential open that and check the gears in there

CV Joint went out. since it gets worse when you turn right it is most likely an inside drivers side CV joint or the out side passenger side. The popping sounds was probably the dust boot popping from pressure build up which should make it simple to locate since you just need to identify the boot with a tear in it.

sounds like the bypass lever might not be re-engaging, push it in firmly. OR, the brake is sticking. this, of course, is if the noise is a growl or a groan. if it IS a grinding noise, look for something stuck in the trans cooling fan or between the axles and wheels, otherwise it's inside the trans and that's not good [re: replacement]
