I understand your problem , All you need to do now , is to go in the security settings of your BIOS and change the protection type.

If you have kept the protection on system mode then it will ask you for a password every time you boot your laptop.

You need to change this to BIOS mode or the other mode which is present and it would solve your problem.

To reset the bios password on your laptop, you will need to remove the cmos battery on your laptop for some minutes and insert back, the cmos battery is located on the motherboard of your laptop, once the cmos battery is removed from the motherboard for some minutes, the bios password will be reset, and that fix the problem.

In case of your laptop the easiest method would be using software from Hiren's Boot CD as it's pretty hard to open it up and reach for the CMOS battery or the jumper.

Hie there i have installed and reinstall Win 7 Ultimate on Multiple Compaq 610's without any problem.
i once encountered a prob like this one but was lazy so i removed my Hdd and formatted it elsewhere and Walaa my prob was gone. i didn't have to upgrade or downgrade my bios and am still using the same laptop 2day. Just make sure you DVD rom aint damaged.

Open MyComputer and look for the icon.
Check to see if it is listed in device manager, if not it may not be enabled in the BIOS or you may need to reload the driver for the device.
