Hi, since you have located the burnt lamp, all you need to do is to unscrew the burnt lamp and replace the new one by screwing it in.....
You only need to unscrew to remove the lamp and if you cannot remove by unscrewing because it is stuck in, then you need the assistance of an electrical tech to help remove with his pliers....

Press RESET, <, >, ENTER keys on remote within 5 seconds to reset lamp timer.

Look in the user manual on lamp replacement. Usually a door held by one screw on right side (when facing front of TV), or behind lower front panel IF removable.

You can try pressing <menu> and <device> at the same time, and you'll get a code flashed out to you (tens digit followed by unit digit). You'll likely see one of the following codes:

• 34 Lamp abnormality
• 36 Lamp Ballast or exhaust fan failed.
  
• 38 Lamp temperature too high
  
• 42 Lamp Fan Failed

But the user's manual and the repair manual both say that a red lamp light means your lamp isn't working (most likely it needs to be replaced).

The easy way to confirm if it is the bulb. Unplug the power to the TV. Remove 2 screws that keeps the lamp cover in the TV. (see manual on lamp replacement). This is on the left side of the TV. Then remove the 2 screws that hold the lamp unit in. Pull out the lamp unit by the handle and then look at the lamp. If it is broken, you will need to replace the lamp.

If the lamp light is flashing, yes you need a new lamp. Be sure to buy an original Sony lamp as the replacement lamps are garbage and are not worth the discount. Please rate this solution. Thanks!

Replace the lamp. In rare cases, the lamp power supply or lamp ballast may also need replacing. But, replace the lamp first, and use an original Sony lamp not a cheap aftermarket replacement. If this helps, please be sure to rate the fix! Thanks!
