If you hear a hum then a click, that is the compressor short cycling. Put your hand on the compressor in the back, if it is very hot(don't burn yourself) then the compressor is dead and will need to be replaced. If the compressor is cold and not running, check for power through the t-stat and to the freezer. If there is power to the t-stat but not through it then replace the t-stat. If there is power through then there is a good chance the compressor is dead.

Freezer temperature keeps climbing thawing out the food.

Check the thermostat, and the cooling fluid.
Tao the thermostat en see if it will start the compressor. When you hear the compressor running and still no cooling, you must have lost the cooling fluid. (used to be freon)

Danby DFF282WDB stopped cooling - light comes on - any troubleshooting we can do?

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

You are locked into the defrost mode. This is when every 8-10 hours your unit will shut down for 20-30 minutes and your defrost heater comes on and defrost your freezer cooling (Evaporator) Coil. During this cycle everything shuts down except for the light.

Your controls are usually located on the top of your fresh food section. On the bottom of your controls, near the front, left hand side there is a round hole. This is where your defrost timer is located.

With a large flat head screw driver turn clockwise. You will hear a clicking sound. Turn slowly one click a time until your unit turns on. This unit will have to be replaced. Until it is replace manually turn it off every 10 hours for 20 minutes.

Compressor gets very hot

The compressor has a start device that could be the problem. If you remove it it should not rattle if it does it is very likely the problem. If it doesn't rattle then it could be your compressor. Check the start device first. it is located directly on the side of the compressor. and is easy to remove and install anoter.

The freezer is not cooling

If this is not a frost free freezer to determine which component has failed please do the following.

Unplug the freezer wait 5 minutes and plug back in. Listen closely for any sounds by the compressor. If you hear a click or hum followed by a click the problem is the compressor and would cost about $400.00 to repair.

If you do not hear any sounds the problem is most likely the cold control or sometimes called the thermostat2_bing.gif.

If this is a frost free unit the problem could be with the defrost cycle or the fan motor.

Stopped cooling -fisher and paykel fridge

ok you say the compressor sounds right?? there's probably a defective relay overload / start cap combination defective. if you go behind the the fridge and remove a small cover you will see the compressor with power disconnected look for frayed or burnt wires take the compressor cover off and you will see the wires just follow the 3 wires. you can buy a replacement relay/overload capacitor combination all you have to do is wire it any additional questions you can e-mail me at [email protected]

have a nice day
