Kenwood car audio Problems KDC-MC522

I have this unit but no sirius hook-up.
I have had it in the Ford F-150 for about 4 years.
Lots of troubles.

It has gotten where it cannot be trusted to work for long.
In operation (either CD or radio) it just suddenly goes off.
To re start I have to remove the faceplate and rub it on my jeans-leg and then reattach.
Itmay then work for a while. Anywhere from less than a minute to a coupleof hours. If I dont rub the back of faceplate on jean leg, it does notre-start. Also sometimes it does not restart anyway.
This problem does not just happen when I hit a rough spot on highway. Just anytime, any condition.

Alsothere has recently been some mystery alilment with the volumeadjustment. When I try to up or down volume the unit may (not always)adjust in opposite direction. Also it seems that I have to spin thevolume dial much too many revolutions for even a small adjustment.

Any help appreciated.
Also where do I send the thing? And do I need to send it all or just the faceplate?
Is the logic circuitry in the faceplate?

Thanks
HX

It sounds like a bad connection between the faceplate and the unit. Have look at the way the faceplate connector makes contact with the connector. You may be able to bend something to make it make a stronger connection. Also check that the contacts are not dull or dirty.

Kenwood Kdc-mp425 will not switch to Aux. Aux cable is connected to the back of the headunit, but no aux option is available on menu for either my ipod touch or my sirius unit. I've accessed the menu from...

Apparently, this auxiliary input only works for a Kenwood CD changer or a sirius radio connection. At least that is my conclusion after finding the same problem. Let me know if you figured anything out on this.

Yes, you will need a sirius tuner for the kenwood..Transfering the service is easy, just contact sirius, and give them the new radio ID, and the account will be switched instantly.

No Sirius or Sat option when pressing Source button

Once everything is connected including antennae, there must be period of time for the head unit to recognize the SAT tuner (SC-C1 in this case). When I started up the car the next day the head unit automatically tuned itself to the Sirius preview channel.

Sirius

Basically, this just means that the head unit is designed to be ready to have a Sirius Satellite Radio system installed. Instead of having to cut and chop wiring and the like, it's ready to just be plugged into the head unit. No need for added expense of adapters and the like just to hook the system up to your car. :)

Some units have a reset button, have you tried to reset the unit?

Tuner error

Use a multimeter to check for connectivity to the sirius. Where did you mount the antenna? Maybe its a reception problem? Sounds like the head unit is going bad. Try shutting it down, and take the pace plate off, let it reboot and see if it works. Check to see if the Tuner is unplugged.
