My Acer Aspire 5920 won't turn on. When I try to charge the battery, the battery charger is green, but it blinks on and off. That hasn't happened before when it's charging. Also, the battery gets hot to the touch, so I remove it and unplug the laptop to cool everything down. Do I need a new battery, or perhaps replace the computer? Please help.

Nothing else happens. The battery light still blinks and I can't turn it on.

What happens when you use the computer with the battery out. Just running from the charger?

  • Anonymous Jun 17, 2009

Sounds like a motherboard problem to me.

You'll have to have a local tech shop check it out.

Try to find a place that provides 100% free diagnostics. if not check craigslist.

Should take a tech only a few minutes to diagnose it.

Acer Aspire 5552 won't power up, charge light flashes on and off

Remove the battery and plug in the Cord/charger, will it boot? If no, try another Cord/Charger with the EXACT same power specs. Replace battery if necessary.

My Acer KAV60 laptop won't turn on. When I push the power botton, it blinks green once then nothing.

Has the laptop been damaged? Dropped? Same on battery? Remove battery, try AC only. Try another cord/charger with the EXACT same power specs. Reseat Memory mods. Test the DC volt output, at the laptop plug in, with a multimeter. Power issues are difficult to diagnose long distance.

Acer Aspire 5920 won't turn on, the charger lights up, (bright green) until you plug it into the back of the laptop, then the light goes dim and flashes.still no power to the laptop, not even the fan.

Your power supply or regulator in you laptop has gone south. sorry no quick fix for this one. It needs repaired and would include tracking down soldered connections.

sorry to tell you this.

Aspire 5920 after capacitor fix, doesnt work from battery

I'm pleased to hear the this fix worked out for you. The 5920 is also prone to quite a few battery charging circuit issues. The most common of which is the inability to run off of the battery. You can power the machine, boot to windows, and check the batter power meter. It could read 100% and the second you unplug the AC adapter the unit immediatly turns off. This is due to a blown fuse in the circuit preventing battery power from reaching the system board. I have included the best picture I could find. Its a little small but i have circled the defective component. You should try to replace it. This may be difficult becuase you would want to replace it with the exact same fuse. For a short term fix you can simple bridge the connection once the fuse has been removed to allow power through. This will solve your problem but may be dangerous to use without a fuse in that location.2c490f1.jpg

Acer 5920 wont charge.

Hi,
The problem is not the ram.
Remove the battery and try to boot the laptop up on AC power only, if it boots up then the problem is not the charger.
If the result is the same then there is a problem with the laptop's motherboard or the adapter itself is faulty.
If the latter is the case then you will need to take the laptop to a service center or PC repair store.

Regards.

The power button may not work, that is most common in laptops, or you have a short.

Sounds like the Motherboard is fried, take to a repair shop and stop trying to charge b/c it could do further damage.
