Wiring where does the keys wire and reverse wire hook to

NOT TRUE AT ALL
IF REVERSE LAMPS DO NOT GLOW.!
ARE THE REVERSE LAMPS DEAD, KEY ON = PRNDL REVERSE SELECTED?
IF METER NEG LEAD IS ON GROUND
AND METER PLUS LEAD (VOLTS) IS TOUCHING REVERSE LAMP PIN , KEY OFF NO HOT.
KEY ON, IN REVERSE YES HOT (12VDC =HOT)
AND THE 2 LAMPS MUST GLOW OR THE METER IS NOT CONNECTED CORRECTLY

START BY TESTING THAT REVERSE LAMPS DO INFACT WORK
AND NOT KEY OFF
AND NOT GLOW IN DRIVE AND PARK AND NEUTRAL.

Need a bit more info, is the sender your talking about a screen? or do you have a in dash dvd player that Your trying to hook up? The hook up is pretty straightforward, video cable from the camera goes to your video source, power is connected to your reverse light that you can find using a test light and putting the car in reverse with the key on and motor not running. and then a ground wire. if its a in dash dvd player you will need the switch wire connected to the reverse light as well so it knows to turn the video on to the feed from the camera. hope this helps.I have had much more luck on www.the12volt.com for car audio and video issues.

i had the same problem with my talon today, all you need to do is get another wire , connect one end to the 12v(red)backup tail light wire and connect the other end to ur dvd player and put it one the wire that is to be connected to the 12v for the revarse camera the wire should be orange but urs might be a different color.

I added some extra line and hooked it up to my trailer plugs' light green wire. I also connected it to the tail light solid green wire. Both produced current the same way. Still blue sreen with no signal...but I am sure this s where to plug them.

im guessing that you are asking this because you cant be bothered to strip the car down for one wire?

i belive the the radio only needs this wire to show a reverse camera on screen or something
so if you dont have the reverse camera then i recomend that you first leave nothing on the reverse wire and test the radio
it should work
if it does what you want it to do then put the car back together and put the radio back in place

hand brake to earth and you dont need reversing unless you have a reversing camera, handbrake wire must be connected or you wont get pic

if you can not find wire for reverse just hook into backup light wire. I do not know what color wire is for backup lights off hand. but if you put brake on,car in reverse, you can probe the wires to see which is the backup ones. this way you may be able to hook into them under dash or at the mud guard on bottom of the door that covers the wires to the back of vehicle.

You need to jump the neutral safety switch there was a plug you disconnected in front of the shifter it has either 4 or 6 pins, take the plug you pulled out cut it off of the old gear selector and plug it back in and strip the wires back, the wires are color coded so like colors usually go together. with a 12 volt test light ground the clip to a proper ground, turn the key to the start position hold on start and check for voltage at the wires you previously stripped, let go of key and voltage should stop if voltage is constant you may be on the reverse light circuit, keep looking for voltage that goes on only when key turned to start, when you find it look for the corresponding color ie green /white to green/ black etc, wire the 2 together and starter should crank over, if not try another one. you will also need to wire the reverse light switch from the new trans to this connector. stay away from brown wires as they are grounds on bmw and never hook anything but brown to brown unless you are 100 percent certain it hooks up that way

did you use an installation harness? you should have the following when you test-
red wire-12v only with key on
yellow wire-12v at all times
reverse your test light to check the ground wire should be 12v with test light hooked to pos
