Thanks, but I've already tried that, and it's set to maximum, but speaker output still very quiet.

    Hi,
I have an Amilo Pro V2055 which has recently encountered a sound problem. I have no sound coming through the speakers. However if I plug in the headphones sound can be heard very faintly even though the volume is turned right up.
Every thing is showing up as working correctly in device manager. I have updated the drivers and rolled them back again. I have even carried out a complete reinstall of Windows XP (SP3). I am assumming it is a hardware problem but may be wrong.
    Any advice greatfully received.
    Thanks in advance.
    Gaz

A number if things can be wrong with it, from the audil preamp to the the audio amplifier. Even as simple as a bad volume control. Does the actual noise change patterns when you move the volume?

The beep codes indicate the battery is discharged - and needs to be recharged. A manual can be downloaded at http://uk.ts.fujitsu.com/rl/servicesupport/techsupport/LIFEBOOK/AMILO/AMILO-Pro/Downloads/a26391-k183-z121-en.pdf

Yes.

NEVER USE MAXIMUM VOLUME FOR TROUBLESHOOTING.
Turn the volume control to something medium.
The errant switch, control or condition may change and you will suddenly release the amp's full power and possibly destroying your speakers. If a signal isn't audible at 1/2 volume it's probably not there.

Carefully examine the front panel for clues like a misplaced Mute or Tape Monitor control or Multichannel Analog Input selected.

There is a good chance that a common control may have developed a high-resistance or 'dead' spot through idleness and is causing your symptom. Turn the POWER OFF and operate every control throughout its range a number of times, especially rarely-used ones like Tape Monitors and the Mute control.

Turn the volume to something reasonable and see if that helped.

Do you mean "db"?

Turn the volume down.

While you're squinting at the front panel, find the manual and evaluate every indicator on the face to make sure you understand what they mean and how they might affect operations. Look for Speakers NOT enabled, Muting ON, a Tape or other input inadvertantly selected. If you fail to find the errant setting, treat it like a new install and set it up all over again according to the manual.

have you tried looking at the advanced options in the volume panel make sure nothings muted if you had sound and you dont now i would roll back the drivers or reinstall them if you can play a song and there is no sound somethings just wrong with the settings if the sound was broken windows would tell you there was no device to play back sound with. also when your in the sound options try all avalabl playback devices

Possible blown speakers

I have experience with that model of speakers. When they give up the ghost, the volume is VERY low. But just to be on the safe side, check the volume properties to make sure nothing is set too low. Start>Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices. Check the slider bars here, check in the Advanced area as well to make sure nothing is low and check the Speaker Volume as well. If all the bars are set to their maximum, it's time for some new speakers.

check the voltage supply rails to the audio output, usually between 14 and 30 volts. if low replace respective rail capacitor for being open circuit. also check the fusible resistor for high value.
ive also had later model lg sets with a crook audio detector ic crook, the one marked micronas.
