Identifying Model number of older Garland stove

I bought an older Garland stove several years ago from a rural country restaurant that was going out of business. I'm trying to get it working and am having a difficult time finding the model number so I can buy the correct parts. It's steel construction, matte black, and has 6 gas burners and a stove. The back of the stove has a shelf running the 36" width I would guess for spices, etc. I've looked for a model number and serial number to no avail. How do I proceed from here?

Try pulling off the panel under the oven door often numbers are hidden under there.

SOURCE: parts manual

Hi, you can call Garland Range at 1.800.424.2411, and talk to the parts department, or you can visit www.garland-group.com and in the top right corner is a "contacts" tab, and you can email them your request. Hope that helps.

SOURCE: Hello, Can't find model/serial number.

Serial number labels are usually located in any one of a number of places -

Under the cooktop in one of the corners
Inside the oven door frame (not on the door)
Behind the bottom drawer pullout on the oven, left hand side
Oven back.

If this unit is anything less than 20 years old, there will be a label somewhere.

Reply back you findings and I can give you more information as to how to repair, and we can identify part numbers. You might also try www.repairclinic.com and see if you can drill down through parts when only knowing the manufacturer.

Parts list for garland p286

https://www.heritageparts.com/manuals/garland/P286#

Go to this site and choose your manual from the list on the left hand side. It covers several models including yours. Also, places like PartsTown, Heritage, Restaurant Parts and More, are pretty good at helping with part selection. Especially RPM if you talk to Bryan or Matt. They are both very knowledgeable with this Model.

I have a Garland Stove and Oven. The oven is not working right.

Hi there, most of the newer unit parts are available still, but not seeing it makes it hard to guarantee. I would advise calling a Factory Authorized Servicer in your area, having a problem with gas entering the oven, and not igniting is a serious problem, and it sounds like the pilot is lit in the oven, but could be malfunctioning.
Here is the telephone for Garland: Tel: 1.800.424.2411.
They can recommend someone in your area, or check your local phone book, for Restaurant repair companies, and contact them.
Hope that helps, and thank you.

Pilot lights keep going out and smell of gas

I would bet if you look in the phone book, under commercial restaurant equipment repair, you will find what you are looking for. Try to get a CFESA certified company, as they will be experienced with the range, have most of the parts, and a relationship with the manufacture.
Here is one:http://www.restaurantservicecenter.com/
Hope that helps, thank you, and Happy New Year.

DCS Mod. 60-624b62n

I am not sure of the model number of my Garland gas range (propane) I bought it in 1970 from a farmer who had purchased it at a restaurant sale. It is OLD. (so am I) I have had trouble for years with the ovens going off at times and not relighting immediately. The right oven especially.
In the last 35 years I have had the thermocouplers replaced twice, the safety valves twice, and new pilots twice. The last time these were replaced was 6 months ago by a repairman who said this was the problem. Very spendy. The ovens still would go out. I had a thought (and related it to the repairman) that perhaps there wasn't enough air circulation to the oven burners (the top burners and grill worked fine) He said there was plenty of air getting to the ovens. Two weeks later I had my son help me move the stove out another 4" from the wall and I have not had one bit of problem with the ovens since.
You can buy new fire bricks for the grill at a heating shop. I am having trouble with the thermostats now, they don't regulate the ovens to coincide with the settings. I will have them replaced next.
Every one thinks I should just get a new stove. No way. This is a great old stove, I love it.

We want to refurbish the old Garland stove in our church kitchen.

Hi, I am sure you can still get the thermostat replaced, however, it is unlikely anyone will service the unit without oven safeties, for insurance/liability issues. You may be able to get it updated with these devices, but I would bet that you could find a newer used unit that is in fair to good shape for the same or a little bit more money. You can contact Garland range at www.garland-group.com, call 1 800 424 2411, or look in your phone book in "restaurant equipment repair" for a company to advise you, and "restaurant equipment sales" for new/used equipment. Check on ebay for approximate prices if you are curious. Hope that helps, and thank you.
