Does anyone have the voltage specs on a PNT-426 Power Supply. It is for my NEC PlasmaSync PX-42VM5A Monitor. My electrician has found a faulty diode but doesn't have the voltage specs on it. I have a photo of the Power Supply if that will help. It sounds like trying to fix the board is the best bet considering a new one is around $750.00 and a re-furbished one is $350.00 - $400.00. Any help would be appreciated. Bob Klemmer Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Canada [email protected]

I assume the part needing to be replaced is discontinued and there is no cross-reference for it thus the need for specs...if so:

The problem is the transistors, MOSFETs, most likely, that are used for high speed power switching. They're about .30 to 2 bucks but you'll have to order them direct as they've been discontinued. Just read the part number on the transistor and Google it. Matching specs on a discontinued part can be difficult.

Power issue NEC PX-42VM5A

Most likely a transistor - NEC used FSM series for a while which are now discontinued. Let me know if you need info on how to find/tell which parts are bad.

Any idea if I can hook my laptop up to my EDTV?

Yes, if your laptop has a VGA out port (that is the external display port - usually blue with 15 pins).
The NEC display has a VGA input on the right-hand side.
You just need a VGA cable that you plug in both connectors.
Then, read your laptop manual to determine how to activate the external display (usually the FN key with an other key that has a display icon on it).
On the NEC display, make sure it is using the RGB1 input (use the remote to activate this input).
That should do it.

NOTE: Make sure your laptop is using a reasonable screen resolution (that is 640x480 or 800x600).

Same problem here. PX-42VM2A (NEC PlasmaSync 42MP2) Turns on (status light green) then goes to standby mode (status light red) after what sounds like some electrical relays clicking over. Opened it up and no glaringly obvious problem, but i'm no components technician so... Any ideas? Anyone want to buy it for parts or need a specific part? email me: 318noire<at>gmail<dot>com
