Hitachi tv turns on then gets bad picture than turns off blue light blinking

The name of the part is probably "buffer board" and there are two in your TV - upper buffer and lower buffer, also called SDR-U and SDR-L boards.

Those are the two most common sources of problems in P50S601 along with the Y sustain board (SD board in hitachi and Panasonic terminology), which sometimes gets damaged by the failed buffer board.

In the buffer boards market there are all kinds of offerrings. There are old buffers for around $130 for the pair and there are new buffers in the range $160-$200 for the pair.

In my opinion if the difference is barely $30-$40 one is better off going for the brand new ones.

Here's a link to our title for them, you can sure find others if you start from it:

I have a Vizio P50HDTV20A. I came back from a comercial break to discover a black screen with sound. Checked all cord connections, unplugged cable until tv was cool to touch. Still same problem, sound but...

My guess from this little information is the buffer boards are bad. The Y Buffers... (3 boards, main, lower, and upper should be checked). The main buffer could just be out, but usually when we replace one, we replace all three. If you are tech savvy and are going to try to fix this yourself, I would start there. Here is a pic of the Y main.. Part # LJ92-01399A . 086lj9201399a.jpgthe Y lower and Y upper are connected to this.. Usually on the left side of the TV (from the back).

There is a fuse on this board, so it could have blown, but more likely, it's time to be replaced.

The Upper and Lower Y Buffers are part #'s LJ41-05121A and LJ41-05122A. I recently replaced mine on my Philips Plasma and it's been working fine since!
Good Luck!

Picture is starting to flicker, then it will turn off and turn on automatically, it's trying to reset itself. What could be the problem and can it be fixed? Thanks, Martin.

The buffer boards are most likely bad at this point. With my Philips TV, the heat of the Plasma caused mine to go bad.. and the connectors from the buffer boards to the Y buffer control weren't tight. I took the TV apart and tightened the connections and it works fine now. If it's warranty take it in and get it fixed. If the TV is out of warranty, you can fix it yourself or get someone who is tech savvy to do it. There are plenty of guides on the Internet to do it. Worse case is you have to purchase new buffer boards. In some cases, depending on the TV, it's not worth the time money to fix... but with a 50" unit... I would try. There are also plenty of guys like me out there that might buy it from you and fix and sell it.

No picture, just sound, blown y buffer board twice1

a4.. there are 2 of them, upper and lower buffer boards.. they control the top and lower half of screen devided horizontally, i have had many run ins with these sets. and usually the buffer boards arent cheap.

they plug into the ysus( y sustain).. its possible your y sustain is blowing the buffer moduals because one of its i.c.'s under the heatsink has popped on ya.. effectively creating a short that blows the buffer boards.
remove the buffer boards, turn tv on... feel the 2 silver heat sinks on that y sustain( beware dont zap urself.. just the tip of your finger on the heatsinks)

you may find that one is cold and one is hot...if so, you need a new y sus and probably to replace the buffer boards the a4 upper and a4 lower.

If you get a new ysus.. plug the a4 upper and lowers into it, look at your picture.. if ur missing the top half the top buffer is blown or lower half the bottom buffer is blown. or..no picture they could both be blown..an easy way to tell if u have no picture to diagnose is..touch the heatsinks that sit over the chips on the buffers..if they are red hot.. they are bad and shorted internally.

SAMSUNG PS42Q96HD PLASMA ,16 MONTHS OLD, RED LIGHT COMES ON WHEN STARTED UP BY PUSHING IN THE ON BUTTON, AND BEFORE A NANO SECOND IT THEN TURNS ITSELF OFF, ANY IDEAS PLEASE ANYBODY ????

Could be power board. Check for swollen capacitors . If ok next check buffer boards for burnt ic. With set unplugged unplug power board from sustain boards. Plug back in and see if it turns on. Unplug again and disconnect buffer boards from sus board plug power supply back into sus to see if it powers on. If it does then buffer boards bad. Isolate upper and lower to Determine which one is bad. Just always remember to disconnect power board from sus boards when disconnecting panel to buffers. Power supply stores a lot of energy and will burn these connectors while reconnecting them.

Faulty JVC PLASMA DISPLAY MONITOR model number GM-P420E Left side has a black line approx' 6-8cm wide from top through to bottom. How can this be repaired?

Does it have a buffer board? If so, check the IC burnt on the buffer board. If bad, replace the buffer board. Check the flexible connector exactly below or above the black line. Is it inserted correctly? Does it have an IC on the flexible cable? Is it brunt? If so, you need a panel. If the buffer board is OK, then you will need a panel
